How afraid are you of the concept of terrorism?

Jihad. That word seems to strike unreasonable terror into western people. First time I heard the word Jihad was in relation to Salman Rushdie. It was all over the news and I think caught peoples interest because it was like something from a double jeopardy movie...Jihaded by people who have a worldwide network and there is no escape. A life sentence and he went into hiding. No one really noticed Islam until then. Rushdie managed to evade and Jihad became less all pervadingly terrifying.

Recently Veena Malik was "served" a Jihad for appearing debatably unclothed in FHM. She is adept in attracting publicity and makes a good living from it. A celeb. They'll be trampled in the queue of volunteers for that mission. But it puts the credibility of "Jihad" into perspective if used against people like that. It's like prohibition law, totally impractical and unenforceable by weight of numbers alone.

That's exactly what it is, a concept.

I don't even think about it.

I am concerned enough about it to support the measures taken by the US and other countries to thwart those who wish to act upon their concepts. As far as concepts I do not want to hear about some nut-job's perspective as to why the world must change to fit their very extreme ideology.

Been exposed to terrorist behavior and was almost blown up on my way to work so I could put food on the table not further some political/religious agenda...:???:

I live about 30 miles from Oak Ridge National Laboratories. The Y-12 plant there was originally used for electromagnetic separation of uranium. It is still used for nuclear weapons processing and storage. There are a few other facilities there as well. Here is more on that:

I'm not scared at all. The thought of a terrorist attack down there just above alien invasion on my list of fears.

I'm way more scared of american politicians making ignorant laws than I am of terrorists. Of course, one is way more likely than the other.

I found an interesting article from a while back which remains as true today...

" ...Even if terrorists were able to pull off one attack per year on the scale of the 9/11 atrocity, that would mean your one-year risk would be one in 100,000 and your lifetime risk would be about one in 1300. (300,000,000 ÷ 3,000 = 100,000 ÷ 78 years = 1282) In other words, your risk of dying in a plausible terrorist attack is much lower than your risk of dying in a car accident, by walking across the street, by drowning, in a fire, by falling, or by being murdered... "

Let's put it this way, the evil Drug Empire has been doing more damage on a yearly basis.

Yet, we continue to advance the cause of the abomination of hypocrisy on Earth instead of simply being moral enough to bear true witness to our own supreme law of the land, and the black and white capitulation and surrender to that empire as clearly enumerated in our Twenty-First Amendment to our federal Constitution.

Does that mean there is nothing to be fearful of regarding terrorism?

    Yes
You have to be afraid of unlimited power of TSA. YOu have to be afraid to be on the no fly blacklist forever. You have to be afraid that some day some anonymous user write a denunciation letter about your relationship with terrorist and you can be held indefinitely in the undisclosed location by the military personnel.

I do not have to be worried about any of those things. While I have been inconvenienced by the TSA, I have no worries in the long run.

Yea, that is a scariest part. People do not realize that their freedom has been taken away. They call it inconvenience.

Yeah, part of the defense authorization act which is signed every year by the President only, this was done on New Year's Eve and it actually expands the patriot act (which already allows for indefinite detention of non-U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism) to include American citizens. Went largely unreported by the main stream media.

One can only imagine the media and left-wing outrage that would have taken place were the President a Republican.

Yea, nice excuse to avoid discussion. I do not know about their agenda I just have clicked the first link from Google search.
However the matter of fact is that U.S. citizens are now included and can be sent to secret prison, as U.S. government see it fits.

Our federal Congress is only Delegated the power to provide for the general welfare and common defense, and pay the debts; so, where did our elected representatives find the latitude of construction to wage a war on terror or drugs, as specifically enumerated powers?

I don't fear death but I'd prefer we stay vigilant against terrorism for our women and children. They must be guarded and protected.
