"'Hellyer, who was a Liberal defence minister from 1963 to 1967 under prime minister Lester B. Pearson, went public with his belief in aliens on earth in 2005.

Hellyer, 90, told Russia Today last week that he believes there are 80 different species of extraterrestrials, some of whom “look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn’t know if you walked past one."

First, I think Mr. Hellyer has gone 'round the bend. Second, that's an "appeal to authority" argument. Lastly, and most importantly, the logic of my previous statement still applies: If aliens existed, it would take a massive (and IMO, impossible) global conspiracy to suppress the information.

If ET came to earth looking for water, and 'it' was from an interstellar location, then mr ET decided to leave due to earths foul water..., man would that thing be a dumb bo. First there is probably more water somewhere between ET's home and here than in all the oceans on earth! secondly pollution would be the equivalent of yummy additives for an alien so brainy that they figured out how to solve the problems of interstellar voyages.

Lastly instant across the universe communication and maybe starships with extra high percent of c velocity engines in the future, probably the distant future, might be developed using quantum entanglement. Now that would be cool unlimited speed, using what Einstein called Spooky action at a distance, or words to that effect. Yes I am getting sleepy, and it shows, so I am gone off to spoon with bogie the basset, to drift off in REM sleep to dream of aliens, interstellar voyages and hopefully other even nicer things, like who I would like to have fun with in zero G~

    yes reverends need love too!

Apparantly it's not that hard: http://www.ghosttheory.com/2011/09/22/israeli-news-uncovers-the-jerusalem-ufo-video-hoax

Possibly, but since God created Lucifer, even had him as his #1 angel for a time, makes me wonder about "the Big Plan".

I saw a youtube video perhaps six months ago that asserted that there are two major forces in the universe...… love and fear................ there seems to be some truth to that idea and........ force number 2 is pretty powerful...........

The guys who are happy with the D.O.W. Jones index............… who have a great deal of influence over what is covered in the media..... may not want to think about this subject............… Look at how influential people attempted to delay and delay and delay the Dr. Stanley Burzynski antineoplaston treatment for brain cancers........ in spite of the fact that he was the only physician having any positive results at all with certain types of brain cancers..... Now why would high level bureaucrats give him so much trouble....??? Because he is close to proving that billions of dollars worth of medical equipment is obsolete!

Correct. Like in the Oort Cloud. http://www.space.com/53-comets-formation-discovery-and-exploration.html

"A comet is an icy body that releases gas or dust. They are often compared to dirty snowballs, though recent research has led some scientists to call them snowy dirtballs. Comets contain dust, ice, carbon dioxide, ammonia, methane and more. Some researchers think comets might have originally brought some of the water and organic molecules to Earth that now make up life here."

Yep, I forgot about that too! Hey didn't voyager pass that ? I know a couple of times we thought she had ventured into interstellar space, or at least was officially out of the solar system into the heliopause only to find evidence she was still experiencing the suns effects....too sleepy to read the link below...still as Spock would say ...Fascinating!

One important aspect of the Big Plan....... is that here in four dimensional space - time we are free to thoroughly mess up........ so that we will learn more and more by our mistakes........ because our mistakes tend to make us more humble..... and heaven would not be heaven if it was filled with egotistical people.......

Unlikely unless there was a "Sharknado". :)

Your analogy of red sand is a good one, but it's not a matter of just finding a needle in a haystack since these particular needles or "red grains" are also likely to emit signals. Let's not forget that signals continue to travel even if the civilization itself no longer exists or moves to a different technology.

    Okay....lets try this analogy instead:

Imagine there are one hundred apples under a tree. This tree lives for 100 years in a forest of 4000 similar apple trees spread over several miles. These apples rot away to nothing within a month, and you live for 80 yrs. crawling slowly through the forest.

Would you be lucky enough to find an apple in your first ten minutes?

Are the apples transmitting their position? I understand what you are trying to say. While I appreciate the magnitude of the problem, nevertheless, we're still left with Fermi's paradox.

I'm not talking about cloning the whole person, just individual organs from their own tissue, that way there's no rejection and you can replace the organs as they fail. The brain will still age and you can't transfer a consciousness into a new one, that's true, but you might be able to combat the aging and replace certain parts cybernetically, particularly if the rest of the body is robustly healthy. I don't see why you couldn't get to 200, maybe more

Again, I don't see or hear of prominent people, Presidents and suchlike, living to 150. Are you saying they hide their identities? Do you really think individuals who spent their whole lives courting the adulation of the public would be willing to do that?

The chances of an advanced civilization developing radio at the same time we do are extremely small, the likelihood they would also be anywhere we would note them and that they would still be around after the transmission spent a couple thousand light years to get here...are significantly smaller. We must also consider the directional pattern of these waves and interference from interstellar debris.

Personally I could consider anything we manage to note as miraculous, considering the odds against it.

Considering the stars toward the center of the galaxy are billions of years older and in one direction from our own position in a spiral arm narrows down the prospect.

Yet we must still deal with the matter of time....which is actually the biggest factor in my opinion.

True, but all wouldn't be the same. The older systems are towards the center with the younger ones layered outwards. There should be some indication even if it is Dyson Spheres.

The ones that have done the best are the ones that were most violent--for example, the warlike Apaches did better than the Hopi. The fiercer Amazon tribes did better than the more peaceful ones.

We already know that ICE's aren't particularly efficient. We just havent' built an alternative yet.

Define "done the best" because I don't see it. Why did you pick Hopi instead of Navajo? Is it because the Hopi have always been few in number but the Navajo are the largest tribe in the US?

    Did Jesus Save the Klingons?

This is an interesting article about how the discovery of extraterrestrial life will affect the various religion businesses.

Some, like the Mormons, with their planet Kolob, will regard it as affirming their notions whilst others will find it very, very annoying.

If we discover life on other planets and they aren't as advanced as we are we will probably enslave them and take everything they have. If they are more advanced than we are they will know we are coming and they will know how to defend themselves.

I am saying that right now...Geneticists are able to extend Human Life Spans by at least 50 to 75 years.

However such Genetic Engineering has not been approved by the FDA or Surgeon General.

Reason it has not been approved is because the companies that are capable of doing this have not attempted to get approval.

They simply intend to set up shop off shore or in the Third World and rake in the money from the extremey wealthy as such a Genetic Procedure as this probably costs 3/4 ths of a Billion Dollars.

If this were true, then we'd have some rich people over 100 by now and still able to go on Dancing With The Stars. Why haven't we seen this?

Oh, let me guess, this is just the latest tech and we need to wait 50-75 years to see that you are right!

    Correct.

This Tech. is new....and Animal Tests were just concluded within this year.

We know where the aging Gene is within our Genome....and it is just a matter of properly re-engineering it.
