Given the laws in some states, it would seem they can severely limit open and concealed carry for every citizen. I said some may be unconsitutional, but allowed that most are legal.
You just proved that history is not your strong suit. I sure do. Maybe it's my experience as a LEO, but I've experienced the "social values" of certain kinds of people personally, and to say I'm not impressed would be an understatement. Oh, were you not aware of the criminal penalties Canadians face regarding that subject now? I'm not "overblowing" anything. Honor, integrity, self-responsibility to start with. Those seem to be in painfully short supply lately. They don't have a lot of insight into how to be worthwhile human beings, much less have ideas on how to "fix" anything. How you and people like you view the world. ...And here we have something you and I are in complete agreement on.
I want them to identify people who shouldn't have firearms--juveniles, gang members, the senile, and people with mental problems. The best way to do that is vet them ahead of time as part of obtaining a permit.
I don't care what you believe. I've got real street experience in dealing with gang members, and have witnessed their behavior first hand, doing exactly what you claim they wouldn't do. They have openly defied the law, in clear view of police officers, and dared the police officers to do anything about it... and there are times when the cops will do nothing, because they know that to act would ignite a bloodbath. Gang members' contempt for the law and those who enforce it is well documented, as is their willingness to confront and even murder any who dare to try and stop them from doing whatever they want. Sure, if a gang member knows he's not the one with the upper hand, he'll run from law enforcement or even surrender; but if he runs and you pursue, you'd better be prepared for an ambush from his homies around every corner. Well, your resorting to a desperate and hysterical bit of hyperbole shows why I don't have to take you seriously, that's for sure. I know how history is taught in public schools because I have family that works within that system. I've seen the textbooks used and read the false propaganda presented therein. I've been able to compare the textbooks of the past against the ones used today and can clearly see how the corrupted narratives have been utilized to dumb down the populace and feed their ignorance of this nation's history; to make them more susceptible to accepting governmental intrusions upon their freedom and liberty. It is very easy to track the campaign to undermine the Constitution, and I suppose people like you would be proud of your contributions to that campaign. I'm not "ginning up insurrection". I'm simply stating the fact that a lot of Americans are tired of being demonized, dismissed, and denigrated by arrogant people who like to think they are part of a "vast majority of Americans" that doesn't exist outside of their imagination. The Constitution is under attack, and a lot of people have had enough. You can sneer and preen and dismiss all inconvenient fact, and what that's going to get you is deeply, fundamentally, and unpleasantly surprised. Then wake up, open your eyes, and look at the world as it is and not how you wish it to be. The first person you need to start being honest with is yourself.
Who are you kidding? You woof nonstop about what you know not. You seem to have a warped view of Millennials, perhaps because they don't have a lot of respect for rules imposed upon them by people with a different world view. They're not as violent as earlier generations and they're more conservative with their money. I took out Canadian citizenship as an adult (born in USA) and I live part of the year in Canada. I'm aware of the law in Canada. You're misrepresenting the situation there. Millennials are no less honest than older generations. I disagree. They're better educated than earlier generations. More of them, but certainly not a majority, understand how the system works.
Tedious, self-important drivel. State laws have been upheld by the Supreme Court. I didn't say they were all constitutional. SCOTUS has refused to hear some cases and left lower court rulings in favor of some laws to stand. Careful you don't nitpick yourself to death.
Why do mass shooters not use machine guns? They often use gadgets (such as bump-stocks) to make lesser weapons perform as machine guns. Ax you say, they never use machine guns. Perhaps it's the heavy regulation of machine guns. Fingerprints and stuff making them difficult to get, limits the number of people who own them. To the relatively sane, and rich, for example
A bumped stock has only been used once in a crime. Why do some hermit states outlaw rifles that have a bayonet lug since the last known person to be bayoneted in America was back during the 1870's ?
Why did they never use them between 1934 and 1986 when they weren't prohibitively expensive due to the Hughes Amendment?
Nonsense. There's no reason most of the shooters could not have legally obtained a machine gun, if they wanted one.
You want to bring back prohibition, too? You may want senile people to have firearms, but I don't. Educate yourself. https://www.alz.org/health-care-professionals/cognitive-tests-patient-assessment.asp Blather. There is no such implicit assumption. Do you also want to take firearms away from alcoholics? Marijuana users? You're going to claim with a straight face that every gang member is a felon? Egads. This has nothing to do with people the cops run across in restaurant. Their feelings may impact how they vote and the laws their representatives pass. Their "issue" then becomes your problem. As I've said, I think a national firearms permit would make nervous types feel safer and therefore less likely to react to a person displaying a weapon. You quite obviously don't understand the technology. It means you don't grasp how the technology works.
Your shortcomings. I have been around technology since vacuum tubes, so cease your nonsensical attacks.
Right back atcha. No, you are. Or are you going to claim that they haven't criminalized improper gender pronoun use (as they have)? My law enforcement experience says otherwise. Yeah, you would disagree; claiming "they're better educated" when you yourself work as part of the "education" system which in reality is nothing but public indoctrination; creating another generation of people programmed to worship at the altar of the all-powerful government.
And how would you know the extent of my training ? You are quite incorrect, I have sufficient certifications in electronics, you used the word "expert" however, my first hourly paid employment at age 12, was at a Television & Radio repair shop. I learned to read schematic diagrams and use test equipment in less than a year. Constant training and classes are involved in warranty work in Television service work.
