Oh those poor criminals who think so little of the US that their first action is to violate the country's immigration laws and immediately go on welfare. They tried so hard to break the law to get here, what a noble thing for them to do. But yes, these are exactly like the white Europeans who came here and built this country.

When 5 year old kids can make the trip from Mexico into Arizona, it can't be that hard to do.

Fortunately a majority of US citizens are not on welfare yet.

Illegal immigration has always had a big effect on the nation. It drives down wages.

It doesn't have to be expensive to tackle the problem. Make those here register so we know who and how many are here now. Give them amnesty, but not citizenship. Allow them to work any job they can under the Federal work rules and min.wage guidelines. Anyone not registered or having a working permit gets deported. Make it a Federal law that business will get punished for knowingly hiring an illegal that is not registered or hasn't a work permit. Problem solved. If they can't work or get citizenship, there is little need to sneak in here.

I would think such a smart, determined, creative, hard working group wouldn't be so dependent on welfare.

 

Libs don't care about the harm illegals will do by coming rare in such vast numbers.

Many of them are uneducated, violent and prone to crime.

And the ones who are not criminals just take jobs from Americans.

Not a bad solution. The key there is, do we have the political will to punish employers who hire illegals? Until we have that, nothing else matters.

 

We have enough Hispanic countries in existence to know what they look like and how they function. Why would we want to turn the US into an extension of that?

First generation immigrants of all stripes tend to need more assistance than existing residents, because they come here with very little, and have to adjust to a new culture, language, climate, etc. It's been that way forever.

They also tend not to assimilate very well. In the 1800s, there were huge chunks of Minnesota and Wisconsin where it was more common to hear German than English. Living in New Jersey, I knew plenty of second-generation immigrants whose first-generation parents never learned much English or adjusted to American culture.

But they adapt, and their kids are both more assimilated and less likely to need government services. Third-generation immigrants tend to be fully assimilated and even less likely to need government services.

 

Right, because Argentina is a cesspool. Or Costa Rica. Or Brazil.

I mean, we have enough white countries in existence, too. Look at Serbia. Or Romania. Or Russia. Who would want to live in places so corrupt and riven by ethnic and religious violence? Why would we want to turn the U.S. into an extension of that?

Indeed, all of Europe is mostly white, and it's routinely decried as socialist, calcified, etc. by conservatives in this country. Why would we want to let whites in, and turn the U.S. into an extension of that?

That's the way it was in the past with primarily European immigration......they didn't come here for the social benefits because there weren't any.......they came here for the opportunity. The current wave of 'immigrants' is vastly different. The come here for the welfare state we have become. They pop out five and six kids on the taxpayers dime......this immediately entitles them to all sorts of benefits like food stamps.....and hey, the kids are American citizens so they are entitled to free health care for life. Then the parents start filing tax returns claiming all their nieces and nephews in Guatemala and poof.....instant tax 'credits'. MOD EDIT - RULE 7

 

Argentina is essentially a European country made up of Italians who speak Spanish and wish they were British......they have about as much in common with the Mayans streaming across our border as I do with a ghetto black in South Atlanta..........

 

Like I said...they are coming here to mooch, not work in the lettuce fields.

 

Maybe we can agree that skin color is neither a good thing or a bad thing.

We dont need uneducated or criminal whites from eastern Europe, uneducated blacks from africa, poor uneducated hispanics from latin America or jihadist islamics from anywhere.

If ambitious, educated engineers or scientists want to immigrate here they are welcome.

But we have too many of the other kind all ready and don't need any more for the near future.

 

The fact that these were the 3 best examples you could come up with to showcase how great Hispanic societies are is really telling. The majority of people in Argentina are racially white. Costa Rica is a 3rd world country, and Brazil has half our population and twice our murder rate. I wouldn't want the US to resemble either of these.

They're not stupid at all to people who want the US to remain a prosperous Western country. There's not a single Hispanic country that has managed to create a country like this. There are many white countries that have.
