You're asking why there are more POC who are Democrats in Congress, correct?

People still live in highly segregated areas. It's no surprise that black candidates emerge from a largely black area. Or Hispanic, or white. Here's Chicago. Red is white, blue is African American, yellow is Hispanic. And since many POC vote Democrat, there's your answer. There are plenty of bad white politicians, for sure.

Congratulations, the approximately 70% of the population that is neither white nor male constitutes almost 20% of the GOP Congressional delegation. What a remarkable leap forward. At this rate the GOP will look something like America before the end of the century.

For a bunch of people who keep screaming about how they don't choose people based on skin colour or gender but on 'merit', GOPers seem to have collectively decided that 'merit' is overwhemingly possessed by the 30% of the population that is white and male.

 

Spoken like someone who thinks there are more than three, count 'em, three African Americans representing the GOP in the House & Senate. You really think the Dems are scared of a party so allergic to electing African Americans that less than 2% of their Congressional delegation is black?

Since this thread is about governors and so many Democrats are making fun of Republicans in here I wonder how many of them realize that there isn't a single black Governor in any of the 50 States.

OK, lets include everything from the beginning.

Before 1900 Republicans had seated 22 African Americans in Congress. From 1901 to 1971 they seated a whole two more. Yep, two. Since then another 9 (one of those is a double up - Tim Scott has been in both chambers). These numbers only cover voting members.

In that same period Democrats have seated over 125 African Americans in Congress. One of them went on to become Vice President & one President. Over 50 sit in Congress at the moment, compared to a whole three for the GOP.

So folks, next time you see Tim Scott giving a speech that is a whole third of the GOP black Congressional representation. One party clearly represents African Americans, the other clearly has no interest in doing so. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying to themselves....at a minimum.

Let me ask you this, why do you think white males dominate politics the way they do?

Do you think they just naturally have better ideas than everyone else?

 

Intimidation by the Democrat party, the media and "progressive" liberal white and black culture itself helps keep blacks in line and out of the Republican party. Every black individual who either runs as a conservative or a republican must stand against an onslaught of name calling and hostility. Takes a special type of courage and foundated support in the home to deal with that type of hostility. Obviously under those conditions the pool of black candidates will be smaller.

 

Because whites are the majority, so naturally more whites run for office. Why do you think Hispanics dominate politics in Hispanic countries?

I guess we can point out that Democrats passed over three black candidates and several women to elect Biden.

 

While this is true, they also hold a higher percent of the offices than they do their percent of the population, so it seems this does not explain it all.
