The difference- is actually mental; how they see things, and their ability to commit to what they believe. A nation is no stronger than it's people- and the Israelis are an extremely strong people, who step up to the challenge rather than wait for someone else to do it for them. IF America is to regain the strength if once had and the benefits of the freedom that strength provides- we are going to have to find a way to build stronger citizens. That is unlikely to happen, as so many today favor lowering the bar and living off others. I agree with your point totally- but sadly, I think we lack the leadership at all levels to do the job.

Israelis no long see things the same way. There are multiple points of view which partly reflect religious differences from the secular to the ultra-orthodox and differences depending on the source and time of immigration. This is now reflected in the fragmented political system. There are fractures about how the Gaza war is being conducted. Possibly the demonstrations and anti-Israel sentiment in other countries will cause Israel to become more cohesive. It's unclear yet what the effect on support by the global Jewish community will be.

In the meantime we can work with Israel. Their Iron Dome is the class of the world in missile defense. And if missiles can't get through obviously manned aircraft can't.

The rest of the world will want this, and it will change warfare and the ability to project force.

And their stand off missile attack on Iran's Russian Built missile defense 300 system. Think Russia will ever sell another one?

I believe Turkey recently bought their 400 system. How comfortable are the Turks that Israel could go through it like a hot knife through warm butter?

Israel just put the world on notice and smart people are paying attention.

I just read a 'analysis" by some clown at the NYT's that is trying to pretend that Israel is trapped between Rafah and Riyadh. As if Israel is desperately in need of Saudi Arabia's approval. Iranian built missiles launched on low arcs at Saudi Arabia penetrated US air defense provided and manned by the US based on the Patriot system.

I guarantee you that Saudi Arabia is looking at the Iron Dome and their mouth is watering. I image that Taiwan's is as well.

Iron Dome is the short range anti-missile and anti-artillery system for projectiles fired from less than 70 km.

David's sling, jointly developed by Rafael Defense Industries and Raytheon Technologies, is the intermediate range anti-missile system.

Arrow 2 and Arrow 3, jointly developed by Israel Aerospace Industries and Boeing, is the long range anti-ballistic missile system.

There is much US money and technology in these systems. Do some research.

Read the thread and the link in the OP. It's already pointed out that Israel built Reagan's Vision with US funding and support. He worked with them to do this when the US was overly reluctant to engage like the Israelis would. And they did.

    Iran's Nightmares
    [IMG]
'...presents a disturbing corrective to Iran’s non-stop boasts of soon possessing a nuclear arsenal that will obliterate the Jewish state...'

'Israel’s small volley of missiles hit their intended targets, to the point of zeroing in on the very launchers designed to stop such incoming ordnance.'

That's a thumb in the eye.

'The target was near the Natanz enrichment facility. That proximity was by design. Israel showed Iran it could take out the very anti-missile battery designed to thwart an attack on its nearby nuclear facility.'

Russia sold them the system, it might be difficult for Russia to sell the system to anyone else.

'The larger message sent to the world was that Israel could send a retaliatory barrage at Iranian nuclear sites with reasonable assurances that the incoming attacks could not be stopped. By comparison, Iran’s earlier attack on Israel was much greater and more indiscriminate. It was also a huge flop, with an estimated 99 percent of the more than 320 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles failing to hit their planned targets.'

In other ways, the Iranian equipment has seemed pretty good. It's penetrated even Saudi Areas protected by US Patriot systems, manned by Americans. Houthis have used it to close shipping choke points, but it certainly failed. I think half of them failed on launch or inflight.

'Moreover, it was reported that more than 50 percent of Iran’s roughly 115-120 ballistic missiles failed at launch or malfunctioned in flight.'

'Collate these facts, and it presents a disturbing corrective to Iran’s non-stop boasts of soon possessing a nuclear arsenal that will obliterate the Jewish state.'

'Consider further the following nightmarish scenarios: Were Iranian nuclear-tipped missiles ever launched at Israel, they could pass over, in addition to Syria and Iraq, either Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the West Bank, Gaza, or all four. In the cases of Jordan and Saudi Arabia, such trajectories would constitute an act of war, especially considering that some of Iran’s recent aerial barrages were intercepted and destroyed over Arab territory well before they reached Israel.'

Israel wouldn't last one day if it wasn't so utterly dependant on USA and European taxpayers for financial aid

Pocket change. The US has authorized $113B to Ukraine in just two years. That's more than we given Israel since 1947 and unlike Israel, Ukraine is never going to jointly develop a world class missile defense system like Israel has.

Vietnam didn't have better weapons than we did. Neither did Korea before it.

Neither did Afg, nor did Iran when they kick us out. Neither did Libya.

Neither do the Houthis nor the Palestinians.

~ Many around the world see Israel differently after the Gaza massacre debacle. Those in the USA who watch mainstream "news" and proclaim "I support Israel !" should join the Israel military — return blind and legless and tell us how it was all worth it.
America remains the most dumbed-down society in the West ...
~ That " pocket change" belongs to the American taxpayers, and that's where it should stay — not Israel. Who will pay to reload the Iron Dome ? More "pocket change "...
Ukraine is nothing more than a money laundry.
Isreal is engaged in a land grab genocide.
Too many Americans have bought into the "America Last" mindset promulgated by government, media, and fake "allies " that would not hesitate to watch the USA collapse.
Notice the latest meeting and agreements U.S. officials had with China. More "America Last " weakness on full display.
The dumbing-down of American society continues unabated ...

Israel used much of companies like Raytheon’s missile defense system which has been in every presidential requested budget since the technology has existed, before, during and after the laser and Reagan was president . Thank Reagan and the presidents before, during and after including the formation of NASA and all the sub contractors that use satellite acquisition and laser guidance systems. It has ALWAYS BEEN in our budgets. NASA has been in existence since 1958. I believe that was long before Reagan. Ronald Reagan just announced what was already being done….he followed the technology. He gets credit for continuing to support a science base defense.

Israel gets support, not because it is Jewish, but because it’s valuable front line ally…..a significant part of their population are non Jews, Christian and Muslim citizens, including relocated Palestinians happy to be both in and fighting in Israel military. Why ? Because it’s a democracy with trade partners with other free nations.

Genocide ? All wars where a country is attacking your citizens is fought by including casualties on a civilian populous that supports a waring regimes. The bombing of Germany and Japan involved the slaughter of tens of thousands of civilians which had war supporting factories embedded in civilian neighborhoods with civilian factory workers. You win wars by destroying a nations capability to conduct the war…..civilians get slaughtered in all MAJOR wars.

How is Israel a valuable front line ally?

Since the Suez Crisis, Israel has mainly been a problem for US relations with other Middle Eastern countries. Had Israel not been created in 1948 we would almost certainly have much better relations with them and they would most likely be much more accepting of Western ideas. The Arab and Islamic country's rejection of Israel is a major cause of their rejection of everything Western.

Really ? You have to ask ? Where have been when Israel jets took out the fission reactors Iran was using to generate weapons grade U. We continue today keeping Iran under the threat of Israel retaliation with several moderate Arab nations as their ally with UK and us.
Since several Arab nations have recognized their right to exist, they have become trading partners and Jordan actually helped shoot down Iranian attack drones and missles. You are totally wrong. It’s the Iranian influenced terrorist backed Palestinian side in Gaza that bears the responsibility for the war. Hamas can stop it easily….just leave.

you support Hamas ? You support Iran….and Russia.

This is incorrect. You lump all of them together and it’s totally false. Jordan and Egypt and smaller Arab countries have Israel’s back for the economic and trading advantages they have with the west. All these countries are better served by this alliance.

Israeli jets have never attacked fission reactors in Iran. They did attack reactors in Iraq and one under construction in Syria.

Fission reactors are not used to produce weapons grade U. They are used to produce weapons grade plutonium. Weapons grade uranium is produced by one of a few isotope enrichment processes.

The Iranian and Iraqi weapons programs were established to counter Israel's nuclear program. If Israel had not been established in '48, there would be no need for nuclear weapons on the part of the Arabs and Iranians. Most of the Middle East would resemble pre-Erdogan Turkey, which was a reliable pro-West NATO country. Consider that the most pro-Western Islamic countries are those farthest from Israel, e.g. Morocco in the west and Indonesia in the East. Israel is the key problem in relations between the West and Islamic countries.

If any of those countries were democracies, the governments would be anti-Israeli. Egypt did experiment with democracy, and the Muslim Brotherhood was elected in 2011. In 2013 the Morsi government was overthrown by General Sisi, the current authoritarian head of government.

This is just not a valid assessment. A good propaganda piece, but not one based in reality. It wasn't Israel which thwarted the Iranian missile strike, it was the US. Furthermore, it wasn't taken out by Iron Dome, Patriot, PAC3, GMDS, THAAD or any other available shield. To a very large extent the Iranian strike was taken out with simple everyday air to air missiles and machine gun rounds. All but 11 of the hundreds of rounds fired by Iran on Israel were drones or cruise missiles. These platforms fly to their intended target at low speeds (120 to 250 mph). They are EASY targets to shoot down and many of the drones are actually a little too slow. Instead of having to take them out with fixed-wing gun rounds, is was easier to vector rotary wing (helicopters) onto the incoming drones. Most were shot down at the cost of a couple dozen bullets. PAC3 took out 5 of the remaining 11 long before they reached Israel. 2 of the remaining 6 were off-target and allowed to impact sand. 3 of the last 4 were intercepted by Iron dome, with debris falling to Earth inflicting minimal damage. 1 and only 1 missile impacted without intercept and did no damage.

The bombing of Germany and Japan could be considered war crimes, but they were NOT genocide. Our bombing of Dresden was a war crime.

Israel is not depleting Gaza's ability to conduct it's defense.

Instead they are targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure as their top of line objective. They don't even know where Gaza's defensive military IS.

They are denying food to the entire population, resulting in starvation.

The IDF slaughter is NOT chose to have any military objective.
