At an event with pro-Putin autocrat Orban in attendance Trump said of him, "There's nobody who is better, smarter, or a better leader than Viktor. He's not controversial, he says the way it's going to be and that's the end of it."

    Oh how he envies dictators.

Do I have to say hosting a pro-Putin autocrat, and complimenting him, is not what someone who is running for prez can normally get away with. Because his supporters normally wouldn't stand for it. But cult leaders can.

Former advisers sound the alarm that Trump praises despots in private and on the campaign trail

To Donald Trump, Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán is “fantastic,” Chinese leader Xi Jinping is “brilliant,” North Korea’s Kim Jong Un is “an OK guy,” and, most alarmingly, he allegedly said Adolf Hitler “did some good things,” a worldview that would reverse decades-old US foreign policy in a second term should he win November’s presidential election, multiple former senior advisers told CNN.

“He thought Putin was an OK guy and Kim was an OK guy — that we had pushed North Korea into a corner,” retired Gen. John Kelly, who served as Trump’s chief of staff, told me. “To him, it was like we were goading these guys. ‘If we didn’t have NATO, then Putin wouldn’t be doing these things.’”

Trump’s lavish praise for Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán while hosting him at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, just days after all but sealing the Republican nomination on Super Tuesday, shows it’s a worldview he’s doubling down o
“There’s nobody that’s better, smarter or a better leader than Viktor Orbán,” Trump said, adding, “He’s the boss and he’s a great leader, fantastic leader. In Europe and around the world, they respect him.”

There is no red line that Trump can cross to lose support among The Following.

Really? If tomorrow he was universally condemned by congressional Repubs, right wing media, and corporate donors for hosting a pro-Putin autocrat who he lavished with praise, followed by a 8% drop in the polls, you think he would continue being the same buffoon?

He envies them, admires them and tries to emulate them. That ,in a Democratic Republic is out of line......and makes one wonder how his supporters can't see that . OR are they ready for him to bring in his version of autocracy?? This could be the beginning of a major turning point for the country.

Orban is on record saying he doesn't think democracy works. It seems Trump agrees.

Authoritarian dictators like Putin and Orban are about as popular with Trump supporters as Trump is. And Trump's admiration for dictators is one of the things his followers loved most about him. Fascism is a feature of the party now, not a bug.

Indeed. The mere fact that Trump aligns himself with autocrats/ dictators so easily, indicates where his thinking (and planning) is . He already controls others by threat of lawsuit, or public shaming. That can make people fearful of speaking against him. So in essence , he is a dictator already......

I thought better of you, Lee. I've seen many intelligent, thoughtful, perfectly rational posts from you over the years. I should not be holding strangers on a forum to any kind of personal standard, but this disappointment hits me to the core. Really, Lee? Really? This is of course all a joke post poking fun at you for being polite enough to say that Trump only "seems" to agree with fascist dictatorship. No, dude is whole hog into that.

Ideologically? Yes, he's a fascist dictator at this point. And I argued against that label for him in the past. The people who argue that he isn't only have one argument: he didn't succeed, so it doesn't count. And as for next time? Well, he hasn't succeeded yet, so that also doesn't count.

The difference is that you have figured out the pattern of his conduct , thinking, and acting. You see him for what he actually IS. When one eliminates the noise.....and sees the overall pattern, things become a lot more clear. He uses his nasty vengeful comments and threats to "control" or influence those he targets. When peple see how his targets are treated, they avoid crossing him. Thus he gains control over them. In that sense he is already behaving like a dictator. and has been doing so step by step diminishing the traditional systems, condemning what has worked for years in a democracy..... and implying HE would do better. ( HE alone.....or with like minded sheeple which he surrounds himself with )

Of remaining clueless to international issues even though he's pretended to be a world leader for years now.

OUR border, the debt and the economy are our biggest issues.

Not paying off Ukraine so they can pay "the big guy".

In fact it never happens. The only exception being a few days after the insurrection. But that changed very quickly.
