No it was really an uncool story. The only cool part was oftentimes lincoln liked to tell stories, but those only served to distract the audience from the fact that the entire film is purely a history revisionist, progressive extremist propaganda film.

I walked out 3/4th through the movie. It really sucked.

Sounds like the new Spider Man.

I don't know why anybody likes it, other than it's Spidery Manness. But it really didn't flesh out why Peter Parker really needed to be Spider Man.

Stupid, If you ask me. :blankstare:

I like Daniel Day Lewis, but I'm skipping this one. I'll just watch "There Will Be Blood" again. Great film.

Did the movie explore Lincoln's desire to send blacks back to Africa after the war?

If not, it's telling the story of fictional Lincoln the hero, which is told to school children all across the country.

I disagree. I thought spider-man was a great movie. I enjoyed Peter Parker in this one. I think the reason he wanted to be spider-man at first was to show off. But then Uncle Ben died and everything changed.

Lincoln did not care about slaves. In the words of kanye west "he didnt care about black people". He regrets that blacks were ever in america and wished africans never sold them to the earlier Americans. Ending slavery was the only way he saw the union staying intact.

If you just go off of this fictional film you would think he stayed up long nights with insomnia, pacing through his room feeling the pain of enslaved black people.

    Its a joke.

The entire film was about the furtherng of black rights in Amerika.

I want my 13 dollars back.

That would be Mr. Spielberg- succesful film director and producer, millionaire- who directed great films from "Jaws" to "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to "Saving Private Ryan", and helped create such television programs as "Band of Brothers".

Yeah- that incredibly talented and successful son of a gun.

The movie focuses on the passage of the 13th Amendment. By 1865 Lincoln no longer believed that sending blacks back to Africa was a viable option.

Yeah that is the Progressive Jew who made this disgracefully innacurate film.

I would think this would be a given since he never put deportation on the table after the war.

Lincoln's "desire" to send blacks back to Africa.....man.....have you even read any biographies of Lincoln?

Henry Clay was the big "colonization" movement guy, and the GOP went along with it, and so did Lincoln.

Considering how poorly blacks were treated by non blacks during reconstruction and segregation, it, Lincoln knew blacks would probably be better of than staying in America. It took blacks till the CRA in the 60's to even get a partial fair shake in America.

Lincoln was exploring likely spots in Mexico, British Honduras, Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica -- not Africa.

At least in this one though he had web shooters. In Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man he had organic webs. I thought that was horribly inaccurate.

    No i dont.

I find it irritating that that is the main theme of a movie about lincoln.

He saw blacks as a cancer to America and didnt see a cure so he freed them.

    Lincoln always was against slavery-

In 1855, Lincoln wrote to Joshua Speed, a personal friend and slave owner in Kentucky:

You know I dislike slavery; and you fully admit the abstract wrong of it.

... I also acknowledge your rights and my obligations, under the constitution, in regard to your slaves. I confess I hate to see the poor creatures hunted down, and caught, and carried back to their stripes, and unrewarded toils; but I bite my lip and keep quiet. In 1841 you and I had together a tedious low-water trip, on a Steam Boat from Louisville to St. Louis. You may remember, as I well do, that from Louisville to the mouth of the Ohio, there were, on board, ten or a dozen slaves, shackled together with irons. That sight was a continued torment to me; and I see something like it every time I touch the Ohio, or any other slave-border. It is hardly fair for you to assume, that I have no interest in a thing which has, and continually exercises, the power of making me miserable. You ought rather to appreciate how much the great body of the Northern people do crucify their feelings, in order to maintain their loyalty to the Constitution and the Union. . . How can any one who abhors the oppression of negroes, be in favor of degrading classes of white people? Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes." When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty— to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be take pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy [sic].[16]

Care to provide a quote on that? I happen to think that Lincoln was a racist of his times- and certainly didn't think of the Negro as his equal.

But the cancer he saw was slavery- and in the end the only cure was to cute it out.
