We never did the locked buildings thing. No one was ever locked indoors (apart from one or two 'problematic' public housing towers).

Public events (as in with an audience) were cancelled for the duration. Football and other sports continued and were televised. And gatherings were limited, yes. Though who in their right mind would want to 'gather' during a pandemic anyway? Most people were happy to forgo such things for a while, given the risks involved.

Of course not, but you know full well that for many months, people weren’t allowed to ENTER arenas and stadiums because they were on a lockdown.

A good question to the Trumpers who proudly claimed they had record gatherings at his political rallies with no masks, and social distancing rules.

Well yeah, but what does that matter? That's like being upset because you can't go to the cinema. Not exactly a high priority for most people.

What matter most is the rationale of limiting/restricting public gatherings during a pandemic, thus, to prevent/reduce the spread of Covid19, thus, prevent/reduce Hospitalizations and Deaths.

Yes, correct. And it did just that, when paired with movement restrictions.

    Good.

Did you know that since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve been promoting South Korea’s KKKK strategy?

    Keep working
    Keep wearing masks
    Keep your distance
    Keep gatherings to a minimum

However, back then, said strategy was nearly impossible to implement in Western Countries, both collectively and individually.

And for your info, you are conversing with a center-right independent conservative, formerly Republican

We had no trouble doing it here. Neither did New Zealand.

We're both Western nations, but apparently different to the West.

They needed a study for this? Lmao what a joke. The next one will be how masks do absolutely nothing other than point out who the sheep are.

Sure thing. But, let's look at flu cases:

    https://healthfeedback.org/claimrev...ases-and-deaths-comparable-to-previous-years/

Notice the rapid drop of the red line (2019-2020 flu season) at the time right after the lockdown, in comparison to previous flu season? Must be pure coincidence, right? That flu was basically eradicated when people were locked down and wore a mask. Nothing to see here, just more Dem propaganda, right?

    Good point.

    For your info, the OP’s researchers have also concluded the following;

“Despite the overall findings, they did note some evidence that closing bars helped to reduce deaths

Closing non-essential businesses seems to have had some effect (reducing Covid19 mortality by 10.6%), which is likely to be related to the closure of bars, they said”

    —————

    Example of non-essential businesses;

    Theatres
    Gym and recreation centres
    Bars
    Salons and spas
    Museums
    Casinos
    Shopping malls
    Bowling alleys
    Sporting and concerts

Question; In your region, were both essential and non-essential businesses on a lockdown, or just non-essential?

Perhaps I should create a new thread, and quote the same source as the OP.

Here is an even better graph:

Flu deaths went from >30,000 per year to <1,000 in the 2020-2021 season. Now, why would this be? Could it be from social distancing and mask wearing? No, couldn't be, those things all have ZERO effects according to righties.

    These threads make me laugh.

I usually catch the Flu 2-3 times a season, however, none since the pandemic started. Is it because

    I regularly wash my hands
    Wear a mask?
    Social distancing?
    Keep gatherings to a minimum?

    All of the above?

Of course that's why the flu (and colds) have all but disappeared. We've completely changed our habits.

Meantime, you seriously have flu 2 or 3 times a year? That's horrible.

I've had flu perhaps twice in my life, and get a cold once every couple of years - and even that pisses me off :p

Because it was the "cool" thing to do, and because they are all in on the agenda.

... and more specifically, it tends to affect people with multiple comorbidities much worse than it does healthier people.

    Disagree.

It is the methodology behind the numbers that is important, and recognizing how it is complete and utter hogwash.

FROM is what is relevant, and covid in and of itself does not kill... It is the pneumonia that can sometimes be induced that can kill.

The most common cause of death from the Flu is pneumonia.

    Cause of death; Pneumonia
    Underlying cause of death; Influenza

    ICD 10 Code; J09.X1

    Covid19, don’t know.
