The Democrats passed oodles of bills 2021 to 2023 with exactly the same majority of 222 to 213.

Might I remind you that they controlled the Senate and the Whitehouse?

It feels like I am getting trolled here.

That is untrue. The fascist unamerican traitorous treacherous insurrectionists, many of whom deserve the death penalty, were armed to the teeth.

Well, since all nazis deserve to be shamed, preferably in hell, this seems entirely appropriate.

Even when the GOP controlled the Senate from 2019 to 2021, the House voted on and passed a lot of legislation to go to the Senate.

    You are clearly trolling yourself.

The very reason for guns is stated in our constitution:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, ..."

What we see clearly demonstrated is that today's GROSS misinterpretation has led to millions of guns and NO security of a free state.

Our democracy would have been equally defended if the public owned NO guns.

Instead of security, what we got is people shooting people who stepped on their porch, or weren't polite drivers, or were rude to them in school. We recently saw a child killed because she stepped on the neighbors law while playing hide and seek.

??We here in America do not have Soros sponsored DA's.

Our system doesn't allow for that.

And, I don't believe you're concerned for someone in San Francisco.

YOU are concerned that an individual with DOZENS of felony charges should go free, because you LIKE a system where your political icons are free to commit felonies, whether in office or not.

If that's NOT what it boils down to, your comments make NO sense.

I'll go ahead and stop you right there at that...

The one during the misinterpretation is you and it is profoundly basic.

"Well regulated" did not refer to the government regulating the arms. But I'm sure this is not the first time that you have heard what the founding fathers meant by that.....

Well regulated meant a functioning militia ready to appear at a given moment's notice.

In order to do that they had their own arms ready for use at all times, and a supply of ammunition to go along with them.

And the militia was all able-bodied males of military age. And that age was broadly, fluid.

Even an old man can load and fire guns.

    @WillReadmore

I took the liberty of googling the definition of militia in colonial times America....

You will notice the most prominent thing first mentioned..... " The community under arms "

That's insane. Not being able to reach a budget deal is the equivalent of terrorism.

    Utterly insane.

We can all cough up the things we think need to be improved.

But, the Republican House today is not focusing on policy direction. And, they have to remember that THEY (or those who came before) were part of the negotiations for all spending that we are doing.

They can't now say that they refuse to pay for all the things that they were part of purchasing.

There are real issues. Dems don't have all the answers. These House Republican renegades need to remember how to be a US representative.

    ???

Did you not notice the obligation to serve?

The militia direction was for the defense of the nation. That direction is more than just everybody buying a gun. There is no "order" in that.

Today, there is NO obligation for ANYTHING related to gun ownership. There isn't even an obligation to take a course on gun safety and our laws on MURDER.

LOL, nice try. Which party had the majority in the House, the Senate, the White House.
A "NO" doesn't make them a part of the purchase - it makes an opponent of the purchase.
You mean the "tail between the legs, vote as the Speaker commands" Democrat process, or, the stand on principle version GOP follows?

The reason for gun ownership came because it was a requirement for a well regulated militia, which was considered of key importance at that time.

That justification for gun ownership simply does not exist today.

Republicans have owned each of those at various times.

Not being the majority is not an excuse for what the House renegades are doing.
But, the issue isn't one purchase. It is the totality of the cost of our government as determined by our representative democracy.

There is nothing principled about refusing to fund our government.

True, free will rather than leadership domination is the reason.
There absolutely IS. Mindless obeisance to House Speaker isn't democracy.

I said nothing about "mindless obeisance", right?

The problem is that Republicans in the House are incapable of negotiating a direction.

Plus, there is a significant indication that we're once again seeing Republicans leading toward an attempt to hold the government hostage.

We need the Republican party to behave as adults and work together on serious issues.

Nope, I did. You think it's being a good congressman.
No problem for Dems, though, right. Nan "jump" that they ask "How high". On the way up.
You know negotiations requires two sides - how come Dems have done nothing to solve the problem.
    Like the Dems, right?

    Oh, please get over it.

The Republican House is a total cluster. Nobody disagrees with that. Ask McCarthy - when he's not on TV!
