They made the conscious decision to submit to being rounded up, because they wanted to prove they were good, loyal Americans. They also came from a culture that cultivated compliance to authority. To me, though I see myself as a proud American, a government agent who would join efforts to round up citizens and strip them of their rights forfeits his authority and his right to life. A government round up would find far less compliant people today; at least in my part of the country.
Good luck. You are registered with the government in a dozen ways and no one seems to mind THAT registration
There are registrations in the bill of rights? I will give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest you have worded your post badly
Probably could have worded that better. You mentioned that we're registered with the government in other areas. Are these items we're registered in already, things that the bill of rights state are not to be infringed on? Because bearing arms is one.
How about the ability to freely assemble? The US government took census information (registration information) and rounded up Japanese Americans. Should we still have a census?
We still take the census registration. I guess its ok to have gun registration if we promise not to do anything bad with it
Oh sorry I misunderstood your point earlier. I see what you mean. You're registering to be in the country. Sure, we should ditch that- I agree that it violates the constitution. Good point
Here are the registrations we would need to ditch: You have to register to vote, you register your information with the IRS and Census bureau, you register with selective service at 18, you register your car and drivers license, you register for many professional licenses, you register for a passport...etc Anyone of them can be used to round you up
You better believe I mind it. Yeah, the government does all kinds of crap it has no Constitutional authority to do, and the American people have become such spineless weasels they've become comfortable letting it continue. And yeah, I know I'm in a minority and I'll be behind the 8 ball if and when the government stops pretending and decides to throw the rest of the Constitution out the window and gets going dragging us all to the reeducation camps to make sure any spirit of resistance is crushed out of us. All I can say is that on that day I hope I die well, and put up enough of a fight to make people remember what it actually means to fight for freedom.
Are you in favor of eliminating all these registrations You have to register to vote, you register your information with the IRS and Census bureau, you register with selective service at 18, you register your car and drivers license, you register for many professional licenses, you register for a passport...etc
I don't think there should be an IRS or a census bureau. I don't believe in selective service. I don't believe in most of the licensing out there, as it's there just to force people to give more money to a wasteful government. As time goes on, I am disconnecting myself from government control and oversight more and more. I haven't finished the process yet, but the day is coming when I simply step off the board and will officially cease to exist...and that will be a good day.
Voter I.D. and Registration prevents those not elidgable to vote from voting and from voting twice or using a dead persons identity to place a false vote. This crime is called "Election Fraud" and could result in a fraudulent Election. The actual process is to Identify Elidgable Voters, it should utilise a Driver's license and fingerprint reader to verify the Voter's identity at the poll to prevent Voter fraud.
