But I like Robert Service's poetry..and if I ever find out who took my book of his poems..I will throttle them..

    http://www.potw.org/archive/potw22.html

It is probably a reflection of my twisted sense of humor..:-D

    By Robert service
    The creamation of Sam McGee
Well, he seemed so low that I couldn't say no; then he says with a sort of moan: "It's the cursèd cold, and it's got right hold, till I'm chilled clean through to the bone. Yet 'tain't being dead — it's my awful dread of the icy grave that pains; So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you'll cremate my last remains."

    A pal's last need is a thing to heed, so I swore I would not fail;
And we started on at the streak of dawn; but God! he looked ghastly pale.
    He crouched on the sleigh, and he raved all day of his home in Tennessee;
And before nightfall a corpse was all that was left of Sam McGee.

There wasn't a breath in that land of death, and I hurried, horror-driven,
    With a corpse half hid that I couldn't get rid, because of a promise given;
It was lashed to the sleigh, and it seemed to say:"You may tax your braw and brains, But you promised true, and it's up to you, to cremate those last remains." ..........

Yeh you definetly have a unique sense of humor Bitterweed:mrgreen:

I cannot entirely agree. Read these lines from Wilfred Owen one of the most famous of WW1 poets.

So Abram rose, and clave the wood, and went,
And took the fire with him, and a knife.
And as they sojourned both of them together,
Isaac the first-born spake and said, My Father,
Behold the preparations, fire and iron,
But where the lamb for this burnt-offering?
Then Abram bound the youth with belts and straps,
And builded parapets and trenches there,
And stretch-ed forth the knife to slay his son.
When lo! an angel called him out of heaven,
Saying, Lay not thy hand upon the lad,
Neither do anything to him. Behold,
    A ram caught in a thicket by its horns;
Offer the Ram of Pride instead of him.
But the old man would not so, but slew his son. . . .

Observe the natural rythyms and the cadences, but not a single line rhymes.

    Our time soon past.
    Your gone will last.
    Then my needing
    you will pass.

    Chasing things in me.
    Built from old wants
    of you. Feeding dreams
    lent me.Things not
    done any more with me.

    Only done now to me.
    Light shines thru you.
    From absence by you.
    Still meek, I curse you.

    My being unrelenting
    holds a thirst for you.
    My mind tells my
    heart to abhor you.
    While my soul adores
    you. I hunger for you!

    Longing,wanting,needing
    Pleading,missing greeting.
    Caring, tearing, wearing,
    bearing,sharing the other.
    Has fallen asunder in a
    fateful blunder, love dies.

In me cries. I miss your
    eyes. Why the lies.
    I will not heed goodbyes.
    Loneliness now applies.
    Blessed are the forgotten
    whys. Renew us and try!

Capitalism beautiful and inspiring, has became the new idealism for democratic nations to export their dreamy eyed notions of commerce. Bringing the world a new romantic period in trade. Pushing globalization and courting each other for the cheapest goods and the lowest wages. Trading as if they were seducing one another for their mutual pleasures and not just simply exchanging goods and services.

Like the failed policy's of the left for the perfection of the great society thru government controls and manipulations. The free trader's give more service to their economic policies than can be reasoned for with the use of free market ideology , leaving their motives suspect . Making the same grand failures as every group since the beginning of the new deal and using government to further their political ends. Except this time- they are exporting it free of charge. Weakening America and adding confusion to the worlds sense of fair and balanced. Abandoning the Human rights principles that guided our foreign policy for so long and that helped this nation become the "beacon of hope and the gauge of reason" for many in the world and replacing it with, The Commerce of Greed.

The annual labour of every nation is the fund which originally supplies it with all the necessaries and conveniences of life which it annually consumes, and which consist always either in the immediate produce of that labour, or in what is purchased with that produce from other nations. Adam Smith
Romanticism of capitalism is turning to lust for Americans who want freedom of the markets thru liberal economic policies void of sovereign protections and lacking national control. The foreign aggrandizement and national disdain of international trade agreements that are working against America are perpetuated by the absence of leadership for America from anyone in government. Instead they talk about stimulis and green jobs not manufacturing unless its to tell us how we will get the benefit of leading the worlds," enviornmental-techno revolution". Succedding by using our past spirit of individual inovations as a model to grow our competitive spirit.

The free market atmosphere and de-regulation of the financial markets coupled with our trade policy's," works against", keeping the investments here. In both human capital and venture markets. Which would meet the need for growth in American manufacturing and start adding jobs. The reason government is doing it ; because the private markets favor investments that have a better return . Goods and services are already being produced in other markets: Asian- South American, Agreements from Bush to help the Middle East, Iraq to rebuild it. America has been hurt by free trade.

The current fevered pace of political unrest has been going on since, NAFTA.
I predicted that America would have a major change in the two party system.
The reason is simple. We are'nt like Europe.
Here in the United states our system of self rule has resisted any one social class from maintaining a hold on power. The common stock in our melting pot a ,"poor black boy", can attain the highest political office we have. The two party political system can endure changes and serve the purpose of giving us an outlet for, redress of government, with out the need to change it by force. The changes we see now are from the, Right & Left. What has happened is that the , Two party system has failed to change to meet the needs of the electorate. So now the voters are changing the party system . This nation has always identified with the individual spirit and idealism of competion and a shared sense that we among the worlds countrys are unique. That national pride and the rugged individualism is what makes America keep rising.

Free Trade an inspiring notion that transforms communist nations into budding democratic adhearnts and solves problems between warring factions the world over. This transformation so pure and remarkable it has given hope to hosts of nations and even forged a truse formed through mutual greed; between the communists and democarcy's vying for control in, "This New World War of Economics".

This is one of the very few poems I ever wrote without rhyme and rhythm.

    Lightseeds

In the beginning, there was the light.
The light was composed of sound and thought.
This sound was music, and this thought was love.
The light expanded and sent seeds of itself outward.
As these seeds left the center, they took on mass and weight.
As their weight and mass increased, they forgot their origin.
Now is the time for these seeds to return home.
Now is the time for these seeds to remember.
You are the light, the music, and the love.

Not very good? Thats not what this thread is about. Its about us and sharing with each other those times when we feel more then just a spectator of someone elses creativity and ideas. We feel like letting our selves be felt dropping any pretense of vainty and giving others a view to our passions. Your the reason we are here. To celebrate your posts tksensei. I will go look.

I try to get Haiku, I really do.
It just doesn't speak to me
    as poems with rhymings do...

Be they limiriks or creative prose,
    the words have to flow,
    for MY interest to grow.
