What other side? The treating us like children side? Fauci can no longer be trusted and anything he says is suspect. When is he telling the truth and when is he lying for what he deems the greater good? There’s no way to know.

LOL, my ego is just fine. Again, I said I was sorry for YOUR sake, and said, don't read me, I don't care.

Yes, I'm verbose. Said so in my introduction to this forum in the Newbie section. So what? I like to think it's quantity AND quality. A lot of people do respond paragraph by paragraph. Others like you accuse me of Gish Gallop. Since I obviously post in good faith, this kind of personal attack (attacking the form/style of the poster, not his ideas) doesn't really affect me.

But I always lament the fact that apparently some people have a limited attention span. Their loss, not mine.

So, I won't last here? Are you under the impression that I fold easily? LOL, you couldn't be more misguided.

This is evidently his biggest shortcoming. It hurt his credibility. It backfired badly on him. At one point he enjoyed some credibility and he could have put that to good use, but he chose to treat us as children like you said, and just managed to anger people. He may be a good infectologist (I don't doubt that part, he does seem to know his trade) but he is not a good politician. He manage to survive several administrations so I expected more from him in terms of political savvy.

Maybe I was confusing the news on 3M as them handling it domestically. Why are we still trusting them if they withheld information and possibly deliberately unleashed this virus around the world and withheld exports of masks? I'm not saying the masks are tainted, but shouldn't we be a bit more cautious because of the unanswered questions of how we got to this place in the US?

Yep, this is what happens when partisan political puppets prioritize Trump worship over evidence. We'll continue seeing more of this.

And all the international pharmaceutical conglomerates and medical schools are pouring billions of dollars into research and development of an effective remedy because none will just just admit that the sleazy reality-tv performer hyped the magic elixir back in March.

Hardcore Trumpers can pleasure themselves with incredibly stupid notions to appease their Trump.

Issue: Fauci lied about the importance of masks (so there would be enough for medical personnel) until more could be produced.

    1. Lying is never acceptable. [I believe he was wrong for lying by omission.]
    2. Lying is acceptable if it's for our own good. [I understand why he lied by omission]

Again you lash out in anger. What part of I read your post and found it interesting offends you?
I didn’t accuse you of Gish gallop and in my first response told you I didn’t think that’s what you meant to do but effectively that’s what it was.
No quarter is given in here and I hope you can deal with that. All in all you seem intelligent and interesting which is rare in here soI hope you stick around. :handshake:

That attitude gives those in authority incredible leeway and the chances for abuse are legion.

I simplified a bit my explanation about 3M. They do have a factory in Minnesota. Limited production. The bulk comes from China. Trump wanted to halt all exports of American made N95s. They disagreed, said other countries would retaliate in withdrawing new medications and vaccines. Trump then threatened them. They did a weird triangulation, kept making ours here and sending them to South America and Canada but agreed to import more from their factory in China. Which helps but is still insufficient.

I do not think that China deliberately sent the virus everywhere. I think they were caught by surprise too, and I'm positive that the virus is not man-made. But this said, they stalled and delayed in order to gobble up PPE; that much is true and despicable but then I blame ourselves too (not exactly this administration; the relinquishing of our means of production to China has been going on for a while and at least Trump is waking up to it and standing up to them). I mean, if we relinquish our means of production to unfriendly countries, who will have THEIR best interest at heart, not ours, in a crisis, how do we complain?

You’re projecting. You and most liberals think because you worship democrat presidents conservatives worship republican presidents.
Truth is we are cut from a different cloth and are policy oriented not personality oriented. Trump the man is not my favorite person but Trump the president does 90% of what I want done so he has my full support as a voter

I mean, let me tell you this: I'm totally wrong about this. I was unkind to you. I apologize. I don't know, all the insanity around this issue has been very frustrating to me and I lashed out. Shouldn't have done it. I usually am more civil than that. Thanks for hanging on and not just Ignoring me (I would have deserved it). I'll try to do better. Perhaps we disagree on the main ideas here but you were more civil than I was, and I'm sorry. Cheers.

I believe (or at least think so, not actually certain) that in an interview on CBC or some other channel he admitted to it, in all words. He said he did lie because at the time it was what he thought he should do to prevent healthcare workers from not having any PPE. I may be wrong, I didn't watch this interview myself and I don't have a link to a video clip of it, I heard about it from another poster in another forum and maybe that poster distorted it.

PS - looks like someone above did post a link to a video clip. I haven't clicked on it yet.

Re: 3M - It's sad that it required that level of pressure to get it done, but I'm glad something is finally being done.

Re: China - Clearly, relinquishing our production isn't working out well and we have no reason to think anybody would have our best interests at heart.

Thanks for your comments. You've made me think about this topic more.

No problem and with that I’ll attempt to clarify my position on Hydrox. I’m on the fence which is extremely rare for me and am open to any and all information on the subject. I have no dog in the fight on this one and only want facts with which to form an opinion.
I do however react with disdain to ninety percent of the post from leftist in here that no less about the subject than I do and are merely pushing an agenda and I can see how some may think I’m pro Hydrox based on that.

Disciples of trumpery apparently worship washed up crude reality-tv performers, and deny what a national disaster he has been, as neo-nazis and other white supremacists promote him.

Conservatives are hellbent on taking their GOP back from the RINOs of Trumpery who have befouled it.

Most Americans now rallying to the Democratic Party is an expression of their repugnance for the Trumped GOP, not of religious devotion.

    You're welcome.

I think we need to urgently bring domestic production back at least for essential items like PPE which is clearly a national security item - what if in the future there is biological warfare? I don't want to appear paranoid but it is a possibility, and even if not biological warfare, Mother Nature has a way of culling the excess of population with some pandemics from time to time... and we should be better prepared.

This (bringing back some production) would result in inflation and higher prices... the same businessman in another forum who was also lamenting this, made an interesting observation: that our neighbors are willing to look the other way if a neighbor loses his job due to his factory going to China or Mexico, as long as they can buy cheap stuff at Walmart.

I think we may have lost a bit of the fabric of this nation. In WWII we engaged in a huge effort to domestically make what our troops needed, to defeat a common enemy. Now we have this common enemy, a virus that doesn't discriminate between progressives and conservatives, Dems and Republicans, Trump and Biden, rich and poor, white and brown and black, and what do we do? We keep fighting each other instead of fighting the virus.

We need to shape up and start working together with less politicizing of the issue. But I know that especially in an election year, it will be impossible. No wonder we have 4% of the world's population and 23% of the (confirmed) COVID-19 deaths. We are not united so we are not fighting a good fight.
