Moses was a Muslim who led Muslims in Exodus from Egypt

says PA university lecturer on PA TV.

Israel's conquest of the Land of Israel defined as:

    "The first Palestinian liberation

through armed struggle to liberate Palestine."

    http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=6716

~by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

A Palestinian university lecturer taught during a recent Palestinian Authority TV program on religion that Moses, a Muslim, brought "the Muslims of the Children of Israel out of Egypt." He refers to the subsequent Israeli conquest of the Land of Israel as the "first Palestinian liberation... of Palestine." This conquest, he taught, was led not by Joshua, as the Bible tells, but by Saul (Talut) who is also said to have slayed Goliath.

While some of this is retelling of Islamic tradition, some of it is a distortion of even the Quran for political purposes. The Quran refers to the "Children of Israel" in their land in many chapters (e.g., Sura 5), but it never refers to them or anyone else as "Palestinians." Likewise the Quran never refers to Israel's conquest as a "Palestinian" conquest. The lecturer on PA TV, however, deviates from Islamic tradition, and calls the nation of Israel's conquest of the Land of Israel "the first Palestinian liberation through armed struggle to liberate Palestine."

This is another example, among many documented by Palestinian Media Watch, of PA historical revision for political purposes, in this case, rewriting even their own Islamic traditions.

The following is the interview with Dr. Omar Ja'ara, lecturer at Al-Najah University in Nablus and specialist in Israeli affairs, on PA TV religion program:

"We must make clear to the world that David in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to David in the Quran, Solomon in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to Solomon in the Quran, and neither is Saul or Joshua son of Nun [of the Bible].

We have a great leader, Saul, [in the Quran] who defeated the nation of giants and killed Goliath. This is a great Muslim victory. The Muslims of the Children of Israel went out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses, and unfortunately, many researchers deny the Exodus of those oppressed people who were liberated by a great leader, like Moses the Muslim, the believing leader, the great Muslim,

who was succeeded by Saul, the leader of these Muslims in liberating Palestine.

This was the first Palestinian liberation through armed struggle to liberate Palestine from the nation of giants led by Goliath. This is our logic and this is our culture."

No, Moses was not a Muslim, because Islam did not exist during his time.

How odd that one can become a muslim without voluntarily doing so, but simply based on a definition of what a muslim is in arabic. Seems very strange indeed.

There's no way to prove he was and there's no way of proving he was'nt .

Depends on the different interpretations/definitions of a "Muslim " If it means a monotheist then ........ ?

Of course you can prove Moses wasn't a Muslim. Islam did not exist until the 7th century CE. Moses lived during the 13th century BCE. Thats well over a 1000 year time span difference. Saying Moses was a Muslim makes about as much sense as saying that Jesus Christ was a Communist. We are talking about a man living in a completely different period of time that has no relevancy to an ideology. You cannot equate two different cultures/people/ideas that come from dramatically different periods of time. It makes absolutely no sense.

Its a pity you missed everything I've posted on the first thread. Pls look it up .

If 1.5 Billion people believed that a flying Spaghetti monster existed, does it mean that it exists? But of course lets completely disregard what the Spaghetti monster believes or what historical fact tells us about it.

What do historical facts tell us about Moses then? Being as there are no historical facts about Moses you are going to have a real problem presenting any.

To 1.5 billion people such a monster does exist, just as umpteen billion christian believe Jesus to be son of a god, performed impossible miracles, dies-resurrect and ascended up int the bright blue skies and whatever number of Jews who belief Moses spoke to a burning bush etc,etc.,etc.

I use to believe in Santa clause until he stopped bringing toys .

Historical fact #1: Moses lived in the 13th century BCE

Historical fact #2: Islam was established during the 7th century CE

connecting the two as one in the same does not compute.

No one knows if Moses even lived, the Bible is not historical fact and if you believe it is then you have real problems.

A belief in one God comes from further back than that and as we know people did believe in one God going back to Egypt and Akhenaten. Just because a religion was given a name in the 7th century does not mean that people did not believe in it earlier. There were many sects lost in time that existed in the years before the name Islam came into use.

Even if Moses never existed, Jewish scripture places him in a period of time LONG before Islam was established. To say he was a Muslim is absolute nonsense. He was Jewish for crying out loud.

And nobody knows if Jesus Christ existed. Even if he did, it doesn't mean he was the son of God. As I said before, just because 1.5 billion people believe a flying spaghetti monster exists, doesn't mean it actually does without facts and evidence that prove otherwise. For a long time, people believed the Earth was flat you know...

I hate to break this to ya but there are plenty of secular sources that reference Jesus, his ministry, his death and account of his resurrection.

I hate to break this to ya, but no credible source with unquestionable evidence can prove he was the son of God or that he ever spoke to this flying spaghetti monster. Like I said, even if Christ existed, it doesn't mean he was any different than some regular shmuck like the rest of us.

Yeah it sucks when someone proposes an idea that conflicts with your own and have no idea how to defend it. But Jesus is not really the subject of debate here. The issue is whether or not Moses was a Muslim. And Moses was not a Muslim. He was Jewish and he existed almost 2000 years before the Prophet Muhammad. Why is this so difficult to comprehend?

Islam did not exist until 2000 years later. Zoroastrianism was the monotheistic religion of the Persians over 1000 years prior to Islam.

There is plenty of proof of this.

Oh so now you do not know if Moses existed when in your last post you were claiming it as a fact that he did exist, you even gave a time date for him. Make up your mind. The fact is that there is no historical evidence that a guy named Moses ever existed. All you have is a story about him in the Bible.Christian and Jewish versions written by people trying to push an ideology. You also say he was Jewish but you do not know if he even existed,so how could he be Jewish? You are really mixed up. A monolithic religion had been going on for longer than when the Jewish caught up on it or the name Islam came into the equation. That the people did not call themselves Muslims does not mean that they were not. That they believed in the same thing would group them with people today that do call themselves Muslims. The Muslims claim Jesus,Moses,Abraham and others as their prophets so to them they are Muslims of course.

How could all those "prophets" in the bible be muslims if they could not acknowledge that mohammed was Allah's messenger? That they did not pray five times a day, that they did not give zahkat and most definitely didn't embark on the hajj? Thats three out of five pillars that allah's messenger decreed was allah's message.

Its because Mohammed was a genius who seconded paganism, christianity and judiasm in inventing his new religion.

You might as well ask how can all those same prophets be classed as Christian if they did not do all the stuff that Christians do? But they are.

I think its you who has it mixed up. If you actually believe I'm referencing the Bible as historical fact, you are very naive. I'm talking about flying spaghetti monsters. Is my atheist overtones not obvious enough?

Earlier I stated that Moses existed during the 13th century BCE. Do I necessarily believed Moses was real or that he did all those things he is remembered for in Jewish scripture? Of course not. But that doesn't mean that the character we know of in the Bible/Torah wasn't from that era. Whether Moses is a literary character or a real human being, Judaism recognizes his existence as having been from the 13th century BCE. Islam as we all know was established MUCH longer afterward. Almost 2000 years later in fact. You keep saying that 1.5 billion Muslims believe Moses was Muslim. Thats fine. But my original argument still stands that just because people believe in a flying spaghetti monster, doesn't mean it actually exists. The same can be said for Moses. He was Jewish and certainly not Muslim. We don't remember him as a Christian right? Why do you think that is?
