It tells me that when you are tough on citizens owning firearms, yet not tough on crime...You invite more crime. For instance I live in a county near Austin, TX where said city is liberal and where I am is not. Just last year a coworker had a DUI, he lost his license for 6 months, fined $1800 and that was a first offense. A couple of years ago an illegal immigrant was finally put in prison when he had a DUI that resulted in a fatality. He had 6 previous DUI's in Travis County, a liberal controlled area of Texas.
While I can not answer for individual cases (unless YOU know all the facts) I will say I believe in the right to bear arms. Some reasonable gun control will not stop you from owning guns....it could be as simple as filling out a form
You didn't post anything in the way of a counterpoint, thus my post stands. Meanwhile try not to create something I didn't say: "The FBI crime stats show that the vast majority of homicides occur in the large inner cities, which are often dominated by democrats. Chicago,Washington,New York,Miami,Detroit,Philadelphia and more long running democrat controlled cites, that often have the highest murder rates in the nation." See how you tried to twist my words?
You already have to fill out a form, it's FF4473, you have to fill this out everytime that you purchase a firearm from a dealer, this means in their shop or at a gun show. As for individual sales between citizens, that is all dependent upon local laws. Some states allow it, others don't. It is up to the individual selling and buying the gun to at least do a bill of sale. I've had sellers request to meet at a dealers and me do a background check, and I don't have a problem with that.
We've already argued this. We don't want a backdoor registration. Changing those laws is all the government needs to have absolute control over every gun owner in America. At that point, our rights would mean nothing to them. Change the laws in your state and enjoy the consequences.
Not at all. Somebody selling a gun to somebody legally allowed to own a gun is no problem and definitely no crime was committed. Were you not legally allowed to own a gun, both you and the seller could be arrested, charged and tried for it.
But there is no evidence that the anonymous selling of guns in private sales to felons is actually happening at a large scale. yes, straw purchases are happening at a large scale, but they aren't from people that are unaware that they are selling to criminals. It's people who know they are selling to criminals, and they aren't going to be stopped by background checks. http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/survey-crooks-get-guns-from-pals-dont-keep-them-long/
Someone inform the member Vegas Giants that those present do not have any concern for the state of how things are in the nation of Japan, as they are irrelevant to the discussion.
You folks are too much. Liberals just got spanked in the national, state, and local elections, so who exactly is going to do anything about what you want? Your side would be better served by learning how to win elections than it would by whining about not always getting your way...
