Bunk, all they do is tell them to sit down, in Spanish. They are free not to do that. They are armed because of the dangerous Coyotes in the area.

    Stop projecting.

Probably, the booming economy is drawing illegals like a magnet.

Interesting the NM gov. and people like you are more upset about this incident than illegals coming in.

You talk as if this was a problem only since trump became president. Who was president when your family first came to America?? Did the taxes paid by the clowns living at that time offer them any assistance?

:censored: lie or are just brainwashed because they preach how nobody comes over the border unchecked and unregulated. If you're not living on planet Hillary you know this is a lie. :censored: say all this only happens at ports of entry and bad people never ever cross the border illegally.

None of the illegal migrants are coming from countries that are seeing issues related to asylum status.

Those are hired security guards operating under the direction of a private company to protect private property, and they are most certainly licensed to do so.

Not the same as an unregulated group of vigilantes rounding up and detaining people, and actively engaging in policing behavior.

If a landowner were to detain a group of trespassers (illegal or not) until authorities arrived, that would be one thing. But these guys have taken it upon themselves to actively police the border and even claim to be border patrol. That goes way beyond a citizen arrest.

Under US law there is no difference.

Everyone is allowed to detain people until law enforcement arrives, the court figures it out after that.

So whether you detain them after breaking into your house or detain them crossing the border the same rules apply.

Where are they claiming to be the Border Patrol?

Actively policing the border in tactical gear is not what citizen arrest laws were designed for.

If these guys were minding their own business and intervened in a crime, that would be one thing. But it is not legal to impersonate law enforcement or engage in vigilantism.

Just because they are armed and have bullet proof vests in a dangerous area doesn't mean they're impersonating a cop.

That is correct, the court does decide.

But no one has the right to actively patrol our borders and impersonate our law enforcement agencies.

    They aren't impersonating though.

It's like saying that security at a casino are impersonating cops because they patrol the grounds and detain suspects.

    Its all legal.

The article in the op said they referred to themselves as border patrol

    From the article:
"In another video posted Wednesday, Benvie filmed himself stopping a group of four adults and three children and said “border patrol” to them as he approached, before calling for another member of his group to join."

That seems like impersonation to me. But even if they are not impersonating law enforcement, the group does not have the right to actively police our border.

The security at the casino has a gun and badge, they do not have to impersonate. They are licensed by the state.

And they should be commended for this. Less troops needed at the border.

They don't carry guns and they aren't licensed to do anything.

they carry a pair of handcuffs and a flashlight.

    lol

I know, I dated one for awhile. I saw him getting dressed all the time.

    No guns there.

The militia is part of what our nation was founded upon.

I don't think you are ever going to find a court saying that they can't conduct their duties.

It's one of our founding principles.

I say put troops on the border, build the wall, and shoot anyone within a hundred yards of the border in the face with tear gas and rubber bullets.

But I don't want random citizens forming militias and policing the border, leave that to the professionals.

If nothing else, think of the s**t storm when one of those illegals gets shot. They are making it even harder for president Trump to do his job.

Deputize them. Towns along the border are declaring states of emergency. This is EXACTLY why we have the 2nd A ... Where are all the liberal it only applies to "well regulated militia" posters? They captured 300 in 1 afternoon ... seems to be a well regulated outfit.

Trump is being blocked from doing his job so it's up to the people to step in.

This is why I support the 2nd amendment because sometimes the government is not quick enough.

If any of these gunslingers break the law they will be held accountable but usually they just protect us.

More power to my brothers and sisters over there and I would like to say thank you for keeping me safe.

They are doing what the Democrats should be doing which is protecting our border. Shame on the Democrats for standing around and doing nothing because they are obsessed with Trump. They have mental issues and I am sick of it!

The security where I work all have guns and are licensed security or off duty cops.
I work in purchasing so I buy the bullets, badges, uniforms, etc. :)

Never been to Vegas, so I don't know what they do out there.

Most security guards' licensing falls under the umbrella of their employer I would imagine.
