Yep. Portland had a choice in the primary of the current mayor, several other Democrats, one Independent, one Republican and one Communist/Marxist. The run-off is between the current wimpy mayor and the Communist. So....you get the government you vote for.

Reminds me of a Rolling Stones song. You can't always get what you want, but you get what you need deserve.

Bye-bye Portland. You were once a decent American city.

Just to revisit the OP, "It was all the Feds' fault" is perhaps the stupidest claim of 2020.

Here's the damage from the last three nights:

    Thursday night and Friday morning:

    Friday night and Saturday morning:

    Saturday night and Sunday morning:

Finally, it seems that maybe PPB has had enough and has started calling them what they are - rioters - and naming their crimes what they are.

They had another riot in Portland last night, no Feds involved.

    Sunday night:

On Sunday, August 9, 2020, commercial grade fireworks were thrown at officers trying to clear an unlawful assembly, including a mortar that injured two officers, and a riot was declared.

At about 8:00p.m., a gathering began in Kenton Park, 2351 North Kilpatrick Street. The group of about 200 people began marching at 9:30p.m. in the direction of the Portland Police Association (PPA) Offices in the 1800 block of North Lombard Street. It is located in a residential neighborhood and was the site of a riot Saturday evening in which individuals broke through a door and started a fire in the building.

When the march reached the PPA, Portland Police made sound truck announcements to the crowd warning them not engage in criminal activities such as vandalism or attempting to set the building on fire. These types of activities would not be permitted and will result in arrest and potential use of force such as riot control munitions and tear gas.

Within 3 minutes, participants began barricading streets with dumpsters and fencing. A fire was lit on the sidewalk outside the PPA office. Fire and an ambulance was enroute to a medical call and had to reroute to get around the street blockage.

An unlawful assembly was declared, and the crowd was given multiple warnings over loudspeaker to disperse to the west. They began to launch eggs at the officers. People who did not leave were moved away by officers with Portland Police and Oregon State Police. The majority of the group went north to Kenton Park. During the movement, commercial grade fireworks were thrown at officers and at least one injured two officers.

Due to the direct attacks on officers, a riot was declared at 10:10p.m.

The group continued into Kenton Park and began to reconvene. More warnings were given, and those that did not leave were moved out of the park.

A smaller group made their way back to the PPA offices where they were again warned that it was a riot and they were to disperse. Multiple arrests were made.

In an effort to deescalate, police left the area. Some individuals moved back out onto Lombard Street, blocking traffic with dumpsters, pieces of fencing, and other items. Some small fires were lit in the roadway. Those in the street were warned to move to the sidewalk. After some time, they moved aside and reopened the street.

The injured officers were treated at the scene by paramedics. One officer was burned on her neck and her facemask partially melted (see photos). A Sergeant standing about 10 feet away was injured in the leg by a piece of a firework impacting his leg (photos).

Politicians don't do anything because anything they do will lose some votes. We need single term limits.

Another night in Portland, and another riot:

Portland Police Bureau: Dangerous Objects Launched at Officers, Unlawful Assembly Declared (Photo)

During a protest Monday evening, dangerous objects were launched at officers and an Unlawful Assembly was declared.

At about 8:00p.m., a group began gathering at Alberta Park, 2001 Northeast Killingsworth Street. There, participants exercised their free speech rights. At 9:45p.m., a march began, blocking vehicular traffic. With shields at the front of the march, the group proceeded west on Northeast Killingsworth Street, ending at Portland Police North Precinct at 449 NE Emerson Street. This is a working Community Policing Center. There have been previous attempts to storm this building and burn it down with people still inside. Portland Police Officers and Oregon State Police Troopers stood at the perimeter of the property to prevent the gathering from approaching the building.

The crowd was issued warnings via loudspeaker and social media not to participate in criminal behavior including, but not limited to, vandalism, unlawful entry to the building, or fire starting. Failure to adhere to this order may result in arrest, citation, and/or the use of crowd control agents including tear gas and/or impact weapons.

Some individuals in the crowd began shining bright strobe lights in the officers' and troopers' eyes, causing them pain. Officers had to move vehicles into position to light up the crowd and make it more difficult to target officers with lights. There were also items thrown at officers including eggs and water bottles.

At 11:06p.m., due to the criminal activity, PPB declared an unlawful assembly. The order was given over loudspeaker to leave the area to the north. The gathering was warned that failure to adhere to this order may result in to arrest, citation, or crowd control agents, including, but not limited to, tear gas and/or impact weapons. Those that were not interested in a confrontation were given an opportunity to leave. Officers then began to physically move the crowd. The crowd began to move, but some individuals interfered with officers and were arrested. While one suspect was being processed, he kicked an Oregon State Police trooper and two Portland Police detectives. Additional charges were filed (see below).

Reports came in of other attacks on officers. One officer was struck in the face by a ball bearing (photo). The officer's face shield protected him from what would have likely been a very serious injury. Another officer had an arm injury (hyperextended elbow) during a scuffle and she was treated and released from a hospital. Officers had golf balls (photo), rocks, and potatoes launched at them.

An Oregon State Police Trooper lost his body camera during the movement. A community member reached out and returned it to a supervisor.

Officers continued to move the crowd away from North Precinct. Some returned, more objects were thrown at officers, and more arrests were made. By about 2:00a.m., most of the crowd had dissipated.

There were 9 arrests made. All were booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center on the listed charges:

Grant, Jackalyn, 22, of Tehachapi, CA, Interfering with a Peace Officer

Arteaga, Simona, 39, unknown residence, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Resist Arrest

Massey, Olivia, 20, of Minneapolis, MN, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Resist Arrest

Sites, Matthew, 48, of Long Beach, WA, Interfering with a Peace Officer

Curtis, Peter, 40, of Scappoose, OR, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree

Wilkinson, Felicity, 33, of Portland, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree

Piombouf, Elizabeth, 24, of Portland, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree

Perri, Catlyn, 27, of Vancouver, WA, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving

Wellmon, Zaire, 24, unknown residence, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer (4 counts), Assault in the Fourth Degree (felony), Resist Arrest (4 counts), Interfering with a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree

    No CS gas was deployed.

it denies the voters the ability to vote for whom they wish. Sure, be they GOP or Democrat, after a while, corruption builds a big machine. Look at Nancy. But, it's up to her electorate to decide to ditch her

A small price to pay for the opportunity to reduce corruption in government. Voters would get used to it.

These career politicians tend to build little fiefdoms and become our version of Afghan war lords, they have too much power. It is not true that their electorate are the only ones affected by that power, limits would give a limit to their use of it. Two terms would be enough and then fresh ideas could blend into what is already there.

I can not see this article because it is a paywell site. I have tried to find other sources that state that Conservatives got the crap beat out of them by ANTIFA.

The fact is that President Trump has quietly listed ANTIFA and BLM as terrorist organizations, and there is an effort to find out who is paying the bills for the group. At an ANTIFA rally, they chanted the Soros' check was late. This was not made in a mocking way. So, it is clear the Soros is funding the group. The same is true of BLM. Both BLM and ANTIFA are funding by two organizations owned by Soros. So, I am sure that the DOJ is currently gathering information on Soros activities and accounts. When they have enough to present to a grand jury, they will indict him and attempt to get him extradited to the US. It should be noted that the leader of BLM is living in a house owned by the Soros organization that is funding BLM. It should also be noted that the Co-founder of BLM states that the organization is a "trained Marxists" organization.

Trump has a list? Has he replaced the FBI already??

ANTIFA was mocking you with the Soros chant.

BLM has a leader? It's very bottom up, which is one of it's real problems. Trump has tapped into a rage that was centuries in the making.

How about some sources, that sounds like the usual Right wing drama fest.

    hmmm

your Democrat party uses the Southern Poverty Law Center as the keeper of the list of terror and hate groups. In fact, the SPLC quickly comes out with a statement about Jacob Blake, who refused multiple times to follow police instructions and wielded a knife and said that he was going for his gun. If you search that same SPLC site for any comment on Cannon Hinnant, a 5 year-old white boy gunned down by a black man and you will find no results on the site

spare us your outrage .............orange man bad

I thought that only in the USA the BLM imbeciles carry out insane campaigns for the demolition of historical monuments, carry out insane adjustments to works of literature, as, for example, in the new edition of the novel of the great American writer Mark Twain "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" they removed the word "negro", but it turned out that the virus madness on the basis of tolerance has spread to Europe.
One of the most popular novels by British writer Agatha Christie, "Ten Little nig....rs" has been renamed in France as part of the fight against racism. Now the detective is called "There Were Ten."
