Yes we are.... because we are all Americans. Regardless of race the insults should not be levied and favoritism should not be allowed. Dr. King's all too forgotten message has been cast away by the left wing of our country because it removes their grip on black votes... MERIT over skin color. This country has proven through the ascention of a large number of blacks to the very top of corporate America, Entertainment, and other realms that MERIT can certainly make one a success in the United States.

The famous "Watts Roits". My Step-Father (Who was a father to me - RIP) told me about them. It was his contention that the portrayal on T.V. of the average Americans having "it all" was disturbing to the black community. They realized the disparity in their world and when the arrests happened by the white Highway Patrol against the black driver in the community surrounded by a large crowd sparked the riot.

From the riots came the idea of Hollywood and the media to create T.V. series like Sanford and Son, Good Times, and Fat Albert (for kids) that portrayed a more realistic view of the black environment in America.

Clearly, I have seen it and likely know far far far more about it than you would ever know. My personal experience and studies virtually guarantee it.

If you want to talk about racism, African History, etc... just let me know. My study of Africa pre-1800 and post 1800 from top scholars in the U.C. system I am sure dwarfs your knowledge base. My work in black communities in Sacramento for charity and at the Safeway store through my early years while going to a J.C. offered me a clear perspective, set of friends, and life experience that knows all to well about the racism that exists. However, if you want to claim that non merit based solutions will achieve anything except reinforcing racism, offering false ascension, and patronize to and for the black community then we will have to agree to disagree. Because I think you have fallen for the white liberal guilt message that is a recipe for disaster for the black community.

I would recommend reading Nate Shaw for a post Civil-War knowledge base to build from. If you want to talk straight African Continent History you need to start with the Hausa States, Trade, Islam and the traitorous actions of blacks on blacks. This does not dissolve the Euro's and Americans from blame at all, but adds perspective.
