    Why would that be? They have a passed bill and they've made a valid compromise offer to that bill on the record.

    I've seen ZIPPY from Mnuchin and Meadows, who coincidentally seems to be the bigger problem this time

    Personality clashes also infused the talks, with the presence of the conservative Meadows having a huge impact on the outcome.

    Meadows, in particular, was singled out by Democrats as a major roadblock to any deal. Democrats point out that they were able to reach earlier agreements with the White House when Mnuchin was the point man and say Meadows’ presence in the talks has proven an unwelcome addition.

    How do you square that one?? It worked in March but cannot work in August.... and what's the major difference??

    Hmm... it's seems Munchkin made the first move here.... still no record that Chuck or Nancy initiated a call (even though they have Trumps number)

    He's got his balls in a vice, and he's still a felon for ignoring the law IMO, but tiny kudos for reaching out anyway...

    The two top Democrats in the U.S. Congress said on Wednesday that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin sought a new meeting on coronavirus aid but showed no sign of moving from his stated position on new legislation.

    "An overture was made by Secretary Mnuchin to meet ... (but) the White House is not budging from their position concerning the size and scope of a legislative package," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said in a joint statement.

    President Trump called for additional stimulus checks to be sent to Americans amid stalled talks with Democrats over a new bill to address various issues related to the coronavirus pandemic.

    Both Republicans and Democrats agree that another round of stimulus checks should be included in any legislation, which is stalled after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) ceded the GOP-side of negotiations to the White House and Trump attempted to bypass negotiations with unilateral action on a looming eviction crisis, student loans, extra weekly unemployment benefits, and payroll taxes.

    The president tweeted that he had directed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin “to get ready to send direct payments ($3,400 for family of four) to all Americans.”
