Evidence based practice works when you have evidence. It fails when there is no evidence to stand on and doctors must think for themselves instead of doing what the computer tells them to do. It fails when some step - procedural or therapeutical - is not available.

Consider, for instance, battlefield doctors. Oh, sure; there are lots of good books about how to perform life-saving procedures in an operating room using evidence-based practices.. Those go to hell in a handbasket when the real world comes up.

People are dying today. Doctors are doing what they can to save lives today. Why is that so troublesome to you? What makes you think you know more than those making the decision on the battlefield?

How many in the control group?
    No control group? Why not?

    Steve Sisolak, Governor of Nevada

Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan (she later reversed it after, but not because, people died and is now begging for the drug)

Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York and genocidal leader of the Hate Trump movement.

There are, I'm sure, more but that's enough to prove that politicians are banning the use of a safe drug for political-only reasons: they hate Trump. They, and anyone who gives them political cover or comfort, including any and all social media members who do so, prefer body bags to Trump.

No control group because denying the drug would increase the death rate in the control group. But if you get the virus, please volunteer to be in the placebo group.

It's given prophylactically for other ailments and has better results for malaria when given early or even prophylactically. At diagnosis is safe and appropriate.

Experience hanging meds that a physician orders?
Obviously, she knows more than them.

As a matter of fact, I heard an MD say the other day there are 300,000 Americans on this drug for other illnesses, he wasn't aware of any of them who contracted Covid 19.

So you end up with another test with no validity.
But hey you have time to do it over.

Except the 'anecdotes' were all positive. All data is anecdotal.

It's called working with what you got, on the fly.
Everything is not already written in a book or posted on the web.
I know that's tough to understand

Well hospitals in Connecticut have been using it for the last week.
Doesn't seem to be a game changer.

Is that a 2% mortality rate?

The mortality rate from the test was under 1%, .47%.

I believe the treatment course is at least five days, you expect results from CT today? You seem to want to avoid the results in the OP.

.47 isn't a good number when you factor in you must start the treatment immediately. It comes with the assumption you have enough medicine and you can properly test EVERYONE.

Really what would be a good number? .40%? So because you may not have enough medicine you don't want to use any? Who's talking about testing everyone, we want to use it on those testing positive for the virus.

So are you saying by Thursday the death rate should be down by an order of magnitude?

I'm saying if CT started a week ago we aren't going to know the results today on Easter weekend. Why don't you want to discuss the OP results that ARE in?

    Because it's a sucko study.
It would be great if it worked, but I sure wouldn't bet on it based on that study.

I don't think the lives saved by the Trump pill care about your opinion.
