I'd mostly agree with this, except I think there is a danger of extremism that would inevitably only result in later pushback from the other side.

One size fits all cookie cutter solutions are not the most ideal. I think there should be exceptions carved out for the highest population density areas, such as the New York City area, most of New Jersey, Chicago, and Los Angeles county, and let just those areas have some added rules that the rest of the country is protected from.

There might be less pushback from Democrats. And maybe some of the Democrat arguments actually have some point in these specific areas.

Most may not be aware of this but the Pennsylvania state Constitution has a part that protects gun rights in the state except in the area around Philadelphia. So a law does not have to apply to the entirety of a state, or country. It ends up working well because most of the population in the state who want gun control are concentrated within that small area of the state. It had something to do with Philadelphia and the surrounding counties being allowed by the state to require a permit, and being able to ban guns from parks.
(This is just quickly from memory, cannot remember all the details, so some of this may be inaccurate)

I hope you'll consider that most states require a more extensive background check and training in gun safety before they issue a Concealed Weapons Permit.

I don't know why the same wouldn't be required on a national level, so, therefore it may mean that there will be more and more people getting more extensive background checks and more people taking gun safety courses.

Wouldn't you consider that a desirable outcome?

I agree with him on this one, concealed carry is the polite way to carry, so should not need permission to carry politely

 

I'm not putting my name on their list, should they try to compile a list of concealed carry licensees.

The difference between an army and a millita is that an Army is controlled through the centralized planning of a second party- government. A militia is controlled from within by individual response. You do not need government's permission to form a millita. The founders did not ask King George if they could arm themselves.

And, I can't see any good reason to notify them. I did not ask for permission from government voice my opinion here, nor did I register my Bible with government. Like Franklin said "Mind Your Business. It's none of their business, and I intend to mind my business.

 

I'm so glad I live in a place where we don't waste endless time discussing the ins and outs of gun rights and those who would enforce various levels of tyranny in the arena. Here we have "Constitutional Carry" where any legal gun owner can carry open or concealed. We are unencumbered by any permit or registration requirements. There are no "waiting periods", magazine capacity restrictions, or other infringements on Constitutional rights.

For how long? You are aware what has been happening in all of Texas's big cities over the last 15 years?
I'd say give it another 15 years of Californians moving there and continued illegal immigration and the soul of Texas will be gone.
It's happened in other states.

Go into an average public school in Austin or Houston and you will see a teacher who was born in California and a classroom filled with the children of undocumented immigrants. Gee, how do you think they'll end up voting?

 

I retired to Texas after 20 years living in San Diego. Many of the folks abandoning California are conservative.
I recently had a guy working on my lawn call me a "California Liberal" because of a bumper sticker on my older car. I pointed to the "WEST POINT Class of 1975" license plate protector, the Airborne Wings decal, and the "Beat Navy" bumper sticker on my other car. He apologized and realized that not all folks from California are liberals.
