How can it be a land grab? They took back what was theirs. You are just pissed off because their army were faster than yours. Too late. Bark at the moon.

How about a view of reality from the independent reporter Patrick Lancaster as he interviews Donestk civilians in towns recently freed from Ukraine by the DPR and Russian troops.

The backlash was inevitable because our leaders apparently wanted it. The way the West is treating ordinary Russians is extremely risky, and imo unnecessary. Sanctions helped pave the way for WWII, and they can do it again with WWIII.

Yet sanctions are the least we can do in response to this war crime.

I do agree. The whole situation is remarkably similar to the way the USA forced Japan to attack first. It all started with U.S economic warfare.

Certainly not all of them. What's the end game? Putin withdraws because of sanctions? His people are able to overthrow him? If you don't achieve those 2, there is only one end to the route we have taken. Ww3. Like I said, good luck to us all, because I'm being dragged along with people acting out of pure emotion.

This sheds a bit of light. The Ukrainians moved 60,000 troops to Donbass way before Russkies made their move.

    The Man Who Sold Ukraine
    https://www.unz.com/mwhitney/the-man-who-sold-ukraine/

Most Americans fail to realize that Zelensky’s rejection of Minsk was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Russian officials had worked for 8 years on Minsk hammering out terms that would be agreeable to all parties. Then—at the eleventh hour—Zelensky put the kibosh on the deal with a wave of the hand.

Why? Who told Zelensky to scrap the agreement? Washington?

    Of course.

And why did Zelensky deploy 60,000 combat troops to the area just beyond the Line of Contact (in east Ukraine) where they could lob mortal shells into the towns and villages of the ethnic Russians who lived there? Clearly, the message this sent to the people was that an invasion was imminent and that they should either flee their homes immediately or take shelter in their cellars. What objective did Zelensky hope to achieve by forcing these people to huddle in their homes in fear for their lives? And what message did he intend to send to Moscow whose leaders looked on at these developments in absolute horror?

Your sanctions have a high probability of making Putin stronger.

A Russian people who are NOT economically crushed and isolated actually weakens Putin.

I think we can safely call that post a lie.
Putin decided on war after the signing on 10 November 2021 of the Charter on Strategic Partnership with Ukraine, which asserted US support for Ukraine's right to join NATO, and made it much more likely that Ukraine would one day seek NATO membership.

That's Putler's choice, just as WWII was Hitler's choice.

Once again you're absurdly anti-US. Japan was not "forced" to attack us. They had any number of options, most optimally ceasing their hostilities.

But I suppose you think their cause was as just as Russia's is now.

You better make sure it's his choice. We didn't make it obvious that his invasion would lead to WW3. If we intended to go the distance, we should have told him that before he invaded.

Put massive troops in NATO countries, and draw your red line clearly. Then If he invades, it really is his choice.

No party ever intended to implement Minsk.
Ukraine was and is free to deploy their forces as they see fit.

You're biased. Everything you post is an attempt to justify Russia's war of aggression, terror and conquest.

A room full of blind, deaf and dumb won't care.

And those 60,000 white nationalist-dominated troops are now surrounded by Russian forces. The war was over before it started but now the Neo-nazi Azov; Right Secktor; C14; Tornado, etc., extremists are now about to be eliminated. Good riddance.

Translated title: The Ukrainian military brought down four enemy helicopters near Nikolaev

Shows one of the downed helos and apparently a Russian POW.
