Spent a minute at Tesla plant and my schedule was 4 12s one week, 3 12s the next. Not bad but I spent my first day off with sore feet every week lol

Only if we work Lunch time is our time and theoretically we can leave the premises to have that break. But having accrued days off is nice

Lol well yah I didn’t think they paid you to have lunch on your day off. It’s the paid part I’m surprised by.

I do 2,2,3 two week pitman 12 hr schedule. Sucks if you rotate so we do a day only and night only shift, gets you a friday saturday sunday off every other week. All 12 hour shifts are pretty crappy in my opinion, but I do like getting weekdays off because some things are pretty weekday specific personal buisness wise.

I think it shocks a lot of people here, the mere idea one could work less hours and be just as or even more productive is counter to everything the people in this country think about work.

Think about his, in 2018 there were 768 million days of unused vacation at the end of the year. That is enough for a full work week for every person employed in the US

Yes, I suppose everything the people in this country think about work is wrong.

Much of it is very misguided.

I'm at 40 hours a week, but the hours are flexible. I know a guy who shows up at 5 and leaves early afternoon. Another guy shows up closer to 9 or 10 and stays until 6 or 7. I think they both find they get the most work done when there are fewer people around them.

We're slowly transitioning back to the office after a year and a half of working from home. The long term plan is to work 3 days in the office and 2 days at home. Friday is a universal at home day, and then we get to pick the other one. I'm quite happy my company has used the pandemic as an opportunity to rethink the work week and the need for all employees to be in the office 5 days a week. I hope more companies do the same. It could have a major impact on carbon emissions.

It's easy for me to believe that less than 40 hours per week doesn't have a negative impact on productivity, but again it depends a lot on the particular industry. I encourage experimentation and challenging the status quo as a way of advancing society and improving quality of life for everyone.

I also liked what my most recent job as a self employed blacksmith/artist. I even did blacksmithing demonstrations for schoolchildren and at festivals.

A fun job is like a fun woman: hot, dirty and dangerous.

Well, without 'work', your life would be sorely lacking in access to the internet, food, shelter, clothing. Someone has to work to create the things you need or want.

That requires 'work' on somebody's behalf.

I've cut back to 55 hours a week.

Some people are just geared differently than others.

I agree totally. Work is a means to an end, a means to have the things you want and need.

Would I be right to assume you are one of those folks that never take a vacation from work either?

Work is more than just a means to an end for me. If the company succeeds, then I succeed. I take personal pride in my work.

I was second person in a two man band for a number of years, so many 'vacations' were skipped, but if I needed a day, no questions were asked.

20 years later, we are now a 12 man band (in the office) and I take time as I need it, including vacations.

Work can be a means to an end and still be something one takes pride in. I have always taken pride in my work and have always excelled in any position given.

Not really arguing, just stating how I see it. Too many people do the barest to just get by, with no pride, and wonder why they don't move forward.

Is there, define more life. What about the things I missed when I wasn't working? Why do you seem to consider working bad or something? I always looked forward to seeing my customers and solving their problems and seeing the results, they were also friends and business compatriots in what we were doing. That along with my coworkers.

From what I have seen through life opportunities are what YOU make for yourself. I was also a semi-pro musician all my life along with my full time job. I put the work into and took the risk in both to CREATE opportunity for myself.
