So I’m curious. Being many are pro 2nd amendment if not in its absolute form to a regulated form. Should guns like Tracking-Point rifles be legal? Biden during the obama administration argued that smart gun technology should be mandatory by government regulation. So let’s take a look at what it’s capable of. https://talonprecisionoptics.com/ https://www.cc.com/video/s86l5y/the-colbert-report-trackingpoint-rifle I own one of these so I’m truly interested in the response.
If enough people want them, the market will deliver. A legal requirement for any guns to be smart guns violates the constitution.
Indeed. Guns that can only be fired by their registered owner would be brilliant, but ones that can kill someone a couple on miles away are more exciting.
This is smart before shooting. The scope doesn’t turn on without a password and it makes sure you hit your intended target. That’s less stray bullets, and less wounded animals that have to suffer
Yes, but I think the idea is to cut gun crime, not the accidental shooting of your auntie while trying to bag a Cariboo.
It basically does. You just hold down the trigger after tagging and when it lines up it lets the round go.
The only way to cut gun crime is to change the culture. There are plent of countries that have strict as He** gun control and still plenty of gun related crimes. That suggests it’s not the laws but the people that cause gun crimes to go down.
There is already a very large thread on the Second amendment and gun ownership. So I wont pinch this one about a specific type of gun.
Re Tracking-point rifles. It seems that many countries are developing such guns and as is the case with all weapons races there is no stopping them. @Joe knows . Do you not think such a gun removes all the skill of the hunter? Like an artist with photoshop..
You have a point. But at one time people thought scopes and four wheelers were cheating as well. Weaponry and hunting techniques have always advanced. You will get less wounded animals and more clean kills too. that said it’s not actually legal to hunt with them in my State. I personally wish they would allow it. I use mine for coyote hunting usually and that is legal. Anyway I prefer to hunt certain animals with levers or pistols just for the nostalgia of it. For example I really want to kill a bear with my S&W 460. But if this gun was legal I would use it on the cow elk hunt for sure
I'll just keep with my "dumb" guns and do the thinking for them.....what can I say, I'm old school..... less gizmos, less to f**k up at the most inopportune time.
First of all in advance, I apologise, I'm from the UK and we don't really do guns. Is the S&W 460 the massive Magnum hand gun? Re your other point. There must come a point when the technology removes all the fun. When you get to the point where you tell your robot to go kill a moose.. However as you say, its not your only weapon, just an added bit of fun. I do think such weapons could be very useful in deer culling etc.
someday a killer will be able to do his mass killing remotely police will get there and just be a smart gun sitting there all by itself
W hich is why if I were to use it I would only use it on cow elk. They’re not very sporty to go after anyway. But they put good meat on the table. Pretty tasty.
If you developed the right mounting system on this you probably could. But these are the types of guns Biden supported in the Obama years. I personally think they’re fine even though it’s weird having to carry extra batteries around lol
What is the argument for making them illegal? I don't know if they should be mandatory but I see no reason they should be illegal.
Biden and Obama supported the kinda guns that knew their owners and did not work for others.... not self killing machines
