That's fine. The expectation wasn't zero civilian casualties. The expectation was that they take measures to minimize them. Telling civilians to go somewhere, and then bombing the hell out of that area with 2000 lb bombs, is not minimizing civilian casualties. Bombing a refugee camp, killing many people to get at alleged Hamas guy, is not minimizing casualties. Denying aid to civilians, shooting them while they get aid, killing air workers, is not minimizing civilian casualties. Really, their behavior seems to be even more egregious than what we would expect if they were simply minimizing IDF casualties while having no regard for civilian casualties. They seem to want to increase civilian casualties whenever there's sufficient plausible deniability to avoid alienating their cheerleaders in the United States.

 

I don't know if I want to get into the complicated history of the area, but no this isn't about jews in particular being mean. This situation is special as it's an area where zealots on both sides have been unwilling to compromise enough to co-exist peacefully, is the short version.

Israel is, of course, one of many regimes throughout history deserving condemnation for terrible acts. Russia today also deserves strong condemnation. Israel is judged a bit harsher because we have higher standards in modern times, and they are our allies and other nations judge us by their actions.

There is no Hamas estimate. They only give how many bodies they've found, as well as gender and age. 70% of bodies found are women and children, but that doesn't mean the other 30% are all combatants, or that none of the children are combatants. Bodies are likely missing, and they do not check whether the bodies are of Hamas or not. One reporter got an estimate out a Hamas operative, but when asked to verify Hamas denied the figure. Nobody knows at all, frankly. Israel is completely talking out of their ass.

Nothing so dramatic as that at all, though I am sure the conservative propaganda machine is working hard to make it come true, as they have for many other self-serving lies over the past few decades. As the electorate ages, support for funding Israel will decline, and we will no longer fund them. They will thrive or not on their own. I agree with most of what you are saying, but the left's is now the party of Hitler and I don't think those woulds will heal quickly. I feel bad for the lefties that aren't into the Jew hate. Just like the right is the party of "forcing women to have their rapist's babies", even though probably 1 out of a 1000 of them probably actually believe that is OK to do, it still is hard to shake.
