Squad member Jamaal Bowman predicts CIVIL WAR if Republicans take the House in the midterms

Because the US military isn't in the business of just exterminating people even though we are very capable of doing so. When your enemy does coward crap like shoot at you from inside an occupied elementary school full of kids you have two choices. Shoot back and risk hitting the kids or take it. America's morality is what is used to effectively fight the US military. It also takes specialized training to deal with stuff like insurgency and 3rd world nation building. The conventional US military is not designed for that nor has it ever been designed for that. The US military is designed to destroy. Hit you really hard really fast and pound you into submission until you surrender. That's why we were able to waltz in there and completely steamroll the entire Iraqi Army in a matter of days, twice. Yet when the job we were specifically designed to do was over we sat there stuck in that country trying to "nation build" for over a decade having little success because we have no idea how to do that. There are specific units within the US military who are designed to do stuff like that as it requires specialized training, deep cultural understanding, politics, and finesse. The conventional power punching US Army and Marines are absolutely not one of those specialized units.

As far as how this would all play out in a theoretical US Civil War? I have no idea. A decade ago if you would have told me that the US military would fight US citizens at the behest of the US government I would have laughed in your face. Nowadays I honestly have no idea what they would do. I'd always believed that most of the First Responders, Cops, Firefighters, Military, etc were more Conservative leaning and for the most part they are, especially the combat troops in the military. But after I watched the cops all across this country stand down during BLM riots and enforce COVID lockdown mandates with brute force in many cases I've come to realize that "conservative leaning" means very little when stacked up against "I really need my job".

Everybody's "real" until it's time to do "real ****". Couple that with the military being more and more indoctrinated with mandatory progressive ideology training I have no idea what this new generation of troops would do. On a positive note the ones you'd have to really worry about as a US citizen come from my generation. The hardened war vets who spent the last 20 years fighting "insurgent" type wars akin to what a fictitious modern US Civil War would look like. And yeah I can say with a fair amount of certainty that no we aren't going to fight you. You'd be dealing primarily with the post-war 20 something year old kids who, based on my experience having to deal with them all day at work, you'd probably be able to survive against. Plus quite a few of my very disgruntled war buddies would probably be on your side as well to help you out.

This is all fan fiction anyway, a modern day version of an 1862 style Civil War with 2 opposing "Armies" fighting each other isn't happening in America any time soon if ever. Closest you'll see to that is small factions of citizens like Proud Boys and Antifa beating each others ass in the streets on Youtube. The internet has vastly obscured reality with it's endless amount of keyboard badasses and edgy videos. In a real world scenario if **** actually hit the real fan then the overwhelming vast majority of every person on this planet would take off running in sheer terror. Whether you're a purple haired teenaged revolutionary fighting the power with your black flags or a red, white, and blue bleeding god fearing American country boy with a closest full of AR-15s and camo pants. I'm not talking fighting with the cops where they shoot tear gas at you or spray you with water cannons or loud noises and your only real threat is getting arrested. I'm talking actual bullets and bombs are flying and people are getting killed by the dozens.

The average American ain't fighting in no damn real war I don't care what side of the aisle they're on nor what they tell themselves at night while they're pissed off at the news.
