The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples is a nationally incorporated umbrella organization that represents the interests, nationally, of its provincial and territorial affiliate organizations across Canada. Its head office in Ottawa is the center of operations for its elected executive of a National Chief and ViceChief, an administrative core staff, program managers and coordinators, and consultants on a range of Aboriginal issues. CAP, itself, does not have individual memberships or provide programs and services directly to individuals. In effect, the "members" of CAP are its affiliate organizations. This office manages the day to day activity of CAP between meetings of its Board of Directors.

So did you just justify black pride and vilify white pride all in the same paragraph? If one is racist so is the other. And so is showing any pride in race or heritage.. where does it end?

In what I am, in my heritage. Dont ask baited questions and you might find you get an answer the first time around.

 

There is the PROBLEM here. There is a rabid fear of anything that the politically correct people scream is racism.

Do you know what a baited question is? You still haven't answered the question, which is legitimate, and lies at the heart of all of this. What is it EXACTLY, that you are proud of? Your heritage? What exactly does that mean? So you have pride in your family and your family name? Is that what it means? I want an answer to a simple question. You claim to have pride, I want to know specifically what it is you have pride in. If you aren't capable of answering even such simple questions, how is debate even possible?

 

I have never been called any of those things!! They are not racist slurs, they describe a specific subset of behavior among white people. Being a well educated white person from the north, means those terms are never applied to me. Terms that take such things into account, ARE NOT racist. They may be a bit ignorant and prejudiced, but ABSOLUTELY NOT racist.

 

So you are not even capable of explaining what you have pride in? That is exactly what I thought. Racism is inherently irrational, therefore to expect anything other than the irrational from racists would be absurd of me. You simply continue to confirm, that which I already know.

 

No it isn't. It is aimed at a behavior!! As I said, I have never been called any of those things, yet I am white. Why is that? If it is about race, it should be applicable to any white person. It isn't. It is only attributable to a certain section of the white community. Which means those terms deal with behavior, NOT race. How hard is that to understand?


PS. They still entail prejudice, which is bad as well. However, NOT racism.

Doing that is actually against forum rules, but I won't report you, because I am a nice guy. And because I realize you cannot defend your views, because they are indefensible, so therefore this sort of childish trolling is all you are left with. I understand your plight, I just don't tolerate it, nor do I respect it.

 

Please stop trying to FORCE your opinion down my throat, I have not done it to you so back off a little. I have not on this board FORCED my opinion on anyone and have stated many times that i dont really care if others disagree with mine.

 

Apparently some are taking this personally and that was not the intent of the thread. To avoid issuing warnings or infractions for flamebaiting and personal attacks I'm going to close the thread instead. It's purpose was clear and that was to warn members about responding to flamebaiting with personal attacks.

Final note on ethnic slurs. In the past we, the moderators, have dealt with them as flamebaiting in some instances. There is no need or place for ethnic slurs in respectful discussion and debate. I'm going to re-address that to the moderator panel and we'll probably continue to deal with it as flamebaiting in the future. There really is no need to resort to racial or ethnic slurs in our discussions.
