In economics, a free market is an economic system in which the prices of goods and services are determined by supply and demand expressed by sellers and buyers.

    Now, YOU explain communism.

That's wrong, would you like to try again?

Communism- an economic system in which both supply to buyers and demand for sellers are determined by government decree.

Well it's not wrong but it is entirely incomplete.

No, go back and read up on what free market means.

And, your description of communism is seriously poor. Communism is centered on the common (not individual) ownership of the means of supply.

No, you are wrong. A free market is free from third party interference between buyer and seller- that's the most important part of a free market- the freedom part.

Yes, communism is the abolishing of property rights. It is theft.

Free markets always have various controls - as do other economic models.

What you want to complain about is that there are controls that have been legislated due to specific needs.

For example, we work to reduce monopoly behavior.

No, free markets exist in nature. It's when you invite government to preside over the trade that things get fxxxed up.

Have you never been to a rummage sale?

    You suggested I'm a communist.

What I'm hoping for is that we stop bandying around words like "communist" as epithets when we don't even know what they mean.

In nature, it's eat or be eaten. Is that how you think the free market works? That's a seriously flawed view, though I can get why some see it that way. For the average small, local business owner? That's not how they see it. They exist in the community and opt to become a positive force in that community.

I really don't care what you call yourself.

Have you ever been to a rummage sale?

A rummage sale is a free market, no third party interference what-so-ever.

Maybe you might have bought something on the black market. Do you know how come it's called a "Black Market"?

Because if they called it a free market you might understand reality.

So you weren't very good at it, then? Ok.

My husband and I own one small company together. It's going great, thanks.

That's great, I'm happy for both of you.

Please allow me to describe nature for you.

You see there is a deer living in a meadow eating the grass. There is a relationship between the deer and the grass. The deer eats the grass, but it also poops on grass to ensure the grass has the nutrients it needs. This arrangement is mutually beneficial to both parties.

Then a government license comes along and shoots the deer.

Our economy has seriously important concerns. I mentioned monopolies - control of our free market by those who are the sole provider of a good or service. That can cause serious problems all across America. You should read some history about monopolies in the USA. There are NUMEROUS other issues that are important to reduce.

A rummage sale is irrelevant. You can have a rummage sale under any significant economic system.

The post office is a government service assuring postal delivery throughout the USA and forming the basis of government communications to the people.

The regulation in Pomona does not change the form of any economic system.

Every government has regulations affecting their economic system. Suggesting there be no such regulation is just flat out silly.
