Be honest here, the teacher was in NO WAY asking her students to pledge anything to Mexico LOL they were merely reciting the words as a way to practice their Spanish, since you know it IS a Spanish class.

More faux rage. Honestly , if that child were my daughter and she had came home complaining to me about such I would have busted her little ass................. then made her go to school the next day and apologize to the teacher IN SPANISH.

That's true. Many teachers have tried many times to force students to say our own pledge over many decades.

We have our students recite the Pledge every morning.

Honestly , why would you stay in this country if you weren't in league with it, and if you are , why not recite the Pledge?

I am sure there are a whole lot of other ways to teach the Spanish language than to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem of another country.....Good for Brenda.

We do, too. It's not required by the law, however, and many students don't recite it. I've seen teachers try to force them, though. The incidents don't always end well for the teachers, and rightfully so. I personally don't actively encourage my students not to make the pledge, although I don't do it myself, and I sometimes have to help defend students who don't from the students who do.

Because I can't guarantee my absolute and unconditional loyalty to our nation. My willingness to pay taxes are enough to show my devotion to the nation.

No, we don't do it by law either, and I would oppose that if someone tried. A local school board making the mandate though, that's a different matter.

Think about what you are saying here. Public schools, a government agency, mandating the Pledge of Allegiance for all students is akin to fascism.

Yep. I think this is silly. Good lord, we used to sing France's national anthem in French class. This girl and her family are making something out of nothing.

Texas- stupid is as stupid does. I guess I should not be surprised.

I completely agree; this is not a civil liberties issue, just a case of ignorance and sheer stupidity. To pledge allegiance is very different to a simple demonstration of culture; she wasn't forced to do it, and the teacher acted very sensibly in the situation. Her beliefs are her own, but its not worthy of changing an entire curriculum.

LMAO!! You're about 100 years off. The mexicans only decided to show up when they figured out they can bring their women here, knock them up and reap the rewards of not paying for anything.

If anyone was a result of the economic growth of this country it was the Chinese immigrants.

If it weren't for faux rage , sites like this wouldn't even exist.

I'm just waiting for the "ZOMG my kid's school served nachos for lunch today, they are catering to illegals" thread. LOL

They can't mandate it, that has already been decided by the US SC.
