Everyone dies. Not everyone really lives.

Odd that he admits free markets don't exist, yet claims that free markets are the cause of neoliberalism's failures

You’re right people die all the time and there’s everything in the world we can do to prevent deaths from happening. Getting people clean water. Turning the lights on in a fridge means fresh food. Telling a child a bed time story and turning on their night light means they smile tomorrow.

Yeah, let's ban cars. Too many people dying needlessly in the name of modern convenience. It's not like cars are a necessity. We humans managed without them for 99% of our existence.

Yeah! We wouldn't have as much pollution improving people's health overall, and we could turn to cycling again!

Or better we can use public transportation and mix people from various socio-economic backgrounds together to help convince people that everyone isn't so bad.

I'm no epidemiologist, but isn't the infection rates, the peak and then the ebb, pretty much what most infectious diseases have done through the history of man?

Better yet, let's live our lives inside plastic bubbles. That way everyone will be super-safe.

You need to take a step back from the keyboard this morning. You crossed a line here, we've got too many internet tough guys on here already and really don't need somebody threatening extinction of someone's kind.

I have read it and its actually quite mundane stuff, with those using it merely guilty of ideological guff. Statistical analysis of cases across countries is not possible. There is no consistency in the data. To understand the impact of social distancing , a natural experiment type approach is required. I have already indicated the nature of such approach. By comparing UK and Germany, we have similar lockdown timing. The difference is that Britain went with a laissez faire attitude and allowed life to go on as usual prior to that lockdown. Mass events, such as the Cheltenham Festival, went ahead. There were zero checks on people flying in from hotshots. There has been little testing, except if you buy a kit privately. The concept of herd immunity ignorantly was used to justify inaction. So what if a few old people die? It was ideological claptrap based purely on free market economics. End result? The virus run amok and Britain is likely to have the highest death toll in Europe. Its already estimated to be over 45,000, something like 7 times the German toll.

Now fake libertarians will crow "yeah but, Britain isn't free market". A free market is neither desirable or achievable. By ignoring that, fake libertarians are just useful tools for big business funding the sites that they religiously chant from. What we have here is the reality of market fundamentalism. Britain, compared to Germany, will be in lockdown for longer. More self employed people will go bankrupt. More hedge funders will make millions. Thats the reality ignored by Americans pretending to be liberty minded.
