Not so sure about that. Has any administration after that of Stonewall Jackson ever reduced government and debt?

Well a few have Coolidge for one, and the only one since the income tax but there is bigger government which slave owners were insistent upon in order to help them catch runaway slaves and what we have to day which is huge, bloated, bureaucratic government whose lust for power is only exceeded by its hubris and increasingly it's institutional incompetence.

Coolidge was an example of a businessman who did a good job as president. So was Trump except that he couldn't keep his mouth shut while Coolidge rarely opened his.

Actually Coolidge did far more speaking than narratives give him credit for. And, while musing, Hoover is an example of a good businessman who did a bad job as president, pretty much starting the depression for one.

Don't understand why you think Trump should have kept his mouth. How should he have acted with the barbarian Democrats, many if not most Republican politicians, and 98% of the media fighting him tooth and nail? He grew up in NY and succeeded in the toughest business environment, commercial real estate in NYC, and knew full well that when punched you have to strike back even harder.

You are thinking of Andrew Jackson. "Stonewall" Jackson was a famous Confederate General, during the Civil War.

Different time and place. Coolidge didn't have to deal with an openly hostile media that almost constantly slandered him and lied about everything he said.

If history is not visible, especially to the young, and it isn't taught in schools, it may as well be removed. If no one knows about it, how will people learn from it?

From what I understand, educators are trying to change that just as rapidly as the statues are coming down.

Presidents should have other people brag for them. Not do it themselves. Rude remarks didn't do him any good. Debating with the press is a proper thing to do. Building a wall between him and them was a bad mistake. Trump caused much of the horrible treatment he received. It drew attention away from his good actions.

Like who would you suggest?? Trump did not build the wall between him and the press; the media built that wall. All of the politicos that did speak up for him are currently being banned, blacklisted, and threatened with prosecutions.

Staff, conservative press, anybody but the president. People respond negatively to bragging by a president.

I think he did. As I said earlier debating with the press is fine. Calling it fake news, true or not, is not the approach one wants to take and still maintain a shred of relationship with the media. Trump was the most effective president in my lifetime. I would have liked him to continue. His personality and personal behavior got in the way of that.

Couldn't give you a like because I don't think Trump was effective, but agree with the rest.

Trump has no ideology. I'm more conservative than Trump. Fiscally and militarily. Probably other areas as well. The only difference would be social conservatism, which I am not. Trump isn't either, as shown by his holding a bible upside down.
