I don't attach any special racial meaning to the use of the word, 'thug'. A thug is merely an unsavory hooligan who uses violence (or the implied threat of violence) to achieve some self-serving goal. A thug, in my observation, and in my experience with the use of the word, may be white, black, brown, yellow, ginger, or red. Has it become the social norm for young black males and white males (who adore rap music/rap stars, and who have embraced rap culture affections) to refer to themselves and their kind as thugs? Surely. And so it only follows now, in the kinder-gentler, politically-correct, namby-pamby culture of 2014, that the perpetually-offended (and the professional race-baiters) would take great offense at anyone using the term 'thug' as a pejorative expression. Just as they see racists under every single overturned rock, these self-righteous morons perceive racism in nearly every word, phrase, or nuance that emanates from anyone who doesn't support their disturbing agenda. I find it laughable, personally.
Just for the record show me a white athlete who has been labeled as a "Thug". Hell for that matter show me the last white person who was labeled as a "Thug".
Most recently, Ritchie Incognito of the Miami Dolphins. He's a professional athlete, and I recall that he was labeled a thug. (And a bully.) And as for whites in general who are labeled as thugs, just come visit any number of Walmart retail stores or McDonald's parking lots around the country. There are legions of young white thugs hanging out, displaying laughable rap-culture affectations. Wearing saggy trousers hanging low off their butts. Saggy shirts and jackets, sideways ballcaps. Slacker expressions, droopy eyelids, ear-buds in their ears, and absurd gangsta rap music blasting into their thick skulls. Dude. They are everywhere you look lately.
I will take your word for it, but I didn't see any of the news outlets were he was labeled as a "thug". With that being said how would Richard Sherman's tirade against Crabtree be considered "thuggish" as compared to what Incognito was doing. I have seen that on display before, but never have I seen young white teenagers or young white men described as "thugs", but a group of young black males doing the same thing are labeled as such.
I guess it's a matter of where you live, and what the local colloquialisms are. My parents never used the word, 'thug', but my brothers and I have come to use it to describe young people (admittedly, mostly white) who behave in a thuggish manner, or adopt thuggish affectations.
And I also know White, Hispanic, and Asian Ni****s also but still considered a racist term for Blacks by most! What's your point?
On my goodness it's worse than I thought you're strating to read things into what is told to you! Maybe if you tried to have a original thought or articulated yourself better, you might be seen as someone with common sense and one who speaks from their Anterior as opposed to their Posterior!

I will give you that some other races do associate themself with the tag Redneck and most Redneck are all good with that and don't take it as a racist or degrading tag, and there are Redneck that emulates the bigot part of the definition and that's all BAD!
The term redneck has evolved over the years. Much like the word gay has. Their definitions have changed with the times.
I lost track at this point what your point was on this. There is a difference between total numbers and rates. More Whites are in prisons than Blacks, yet Blacks are incarcerated at a higher rate that Whites, since Blacks commit crimes at a higher rate than Whites. Simple math.
I have abandoned the use of the word 'Thug' because it has been marked as officially 'racist' by our resident experts; I will call it 'the T word' from now on. I'd like permission to use the word 'Goon' in it's place for when I occasionally need to refer to a bully in a less than complimentary way.
It's just that most Whites don't yell foul every time some idiot tags them with a lable! For instance the term Redneck once a lable for a uneducated soutthen White farm hand & bigot (with a subjective opinion on the later part). They took the lable and as opposed to taking it as a negitive indication, reversed it and made it a lable of Pride signifying a person of value and having the courage to stand their ground! So much so that today most people no longer identify it as a racist term, and people of all races lable themselves with the term Rednecks,(even though the dictionary still describes it as White racist term)! And as I've already read past this post and know you have already been shown some examples of professional Whites that have been called a thug in National media, so I'll just say this, it goes unknown because no special interest group exists out there to cry foul when the second majority in America is called a name! Nor do we feel the need to have one because we can get past it without feeling the need for someone elce telling us we have just been degraded by a term that before now had no racial value!
I understand that if 2000 crimes are committed and black folks account for 500 of the crimes committed and whites account for 1500 of the crimes committed and 499 blacks are incarcerated and only 450 whites are incarcerated something is wrong with the Justice System.
