    Exactly.

    Trump is an Unprepared Imbecile.

    Remember, in Trump's World:

Anybody remotely competent is a Deep State Stooge.

Based on Trump's Response, including putting people in charge who don't even know the basic protocol, it seems clear that Trump could not care less if it spreads.

This is what happens when a Country Elects an Amateur.:smh:

I don't think 'fearmongering' is the right word. Neither is it appropriate that anyone put their head in the sand, fingers in their ears and go 'Lalalalalah.'

Or, the US is handling it better than others. Of course those so blinded by their partisan hate can't comprehend any options that don't fit their fearmongering worldview...

Measles, your concern about measles, the link provided and ugly numbers posted were all about and caused by lack of people vaccinated for measles

    You ok?

I agree. No doubt about it. This virus will not bother the USA which is 'handling it better than others.' Can you explain to the leftists here, how? They don't seem to know.

I told you already, Antivirals are NOT a cure. They certainly are NOT a vaccine.

Do you understand ANY of this stuff? I have a feeling you don't know how vaccination works, and what an antibody is. Time to study up before you write further comments.

Oh, I am not worried about the career (deep state) officials at the CDC handling the issue. I am worried about the two guys at the top, whose first concerns is with the stock market, and, therefore, their re-election chances.

Trump needs no help in making himself look like a horrible terrible no good person. He does MORE than enough all on his own to confirm that title.

"It's an "issue." NOT a pandemic." To paraphrase loretta lynch :)

That's the government for you. They fire the team and then completely shred all evidence of the team so that if they have to assemble a new one it takes 7 years to rebuild.

It's not like they can just start back up where they left off.

The network of response pros did not "sit around." All had important jobs with the CDC, the NIH, the Dept of Homeland Security, and other agencies that we would need as part of a response to a pandemic. Many were doctors and researchers. They worked all the time, but were prepared to step in to these other shoes in the event of a spreading virus like this one. This network was created by the Obama administration in 2014 during the ebola outbreak in western Africa.

Trump has done his best to undo or dismantle everything Obama did, which is why he dismantled this response network in 2018 while simultaneously cutting budgets for the CDC and other agencies that we currently need. The few who were the part of this part time, on call team of professionals who were assigned to the NSC were summarily fired and have not been replaced.

Trump is either not listening to the professionals or he's simply dismissing whatever they tell him out of hand, replacing their information with lies, like the one about there only being 15 infected in the U.S. when he'd just been told there were more than 60. He told us the affected were getting better and soon there would be none. He told another lie when he told us a vaccine was imminent, when he'd just been told that vaccines take at least a year, usually 18 months.

He's always claimed to be a "stable genius" who knows more than the experts about everything. His ridiculous hubris and the lies he's telling the American people isn't just horse pucky, it's potentially deadly horse pucky.

Actually, that team is exactly what we need. Especially since Trump had the CDC's budget drastically cut.

See above. The network of professionals that Obama built weren't just sitting around doing nothing between outbreaks. Why do people think that?

Sorry, but they really aren't. What they have is something they think is a good vaccine candidate, not a vaccine itself.

    https://m.businesstoday.in/story/co...tists-develop-vaccine-candidate/1/396700.html

I can't find anything on this specific candidate because it's just been developed, but here's a good write-up on how flu vaccine are developed that explains what a candidate is:

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/candidate-vaccine-virus.htm

Even if they do have a good candidate, it has yet to be tested. That's a lengthy process at best, plus there's the time it takes to make enough for so many people. I wouldn't expect a vaccine to get to us before this becomes a full-blown pandemic. I bought masks and gloves. I'm going to stock up on non-perishable food and make sure my Netflix bill is paid up. ;-)
