In the same sense Donald Trump was supposedly quoted as saying white supremacists are good people?

Oh really. I thought the OP was about Social Security funding. What do you think the discussion is about?

Maybe you would care to opine where you think the money is going to come from.

    Direct quote:
“If I’m victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax” ... “I’m going to make them all permanent” ... “In other words, I’ll extended beyond the end of the year and terminate the tax,” ... “And so we’ll see what happens.”

Would you like video? Maybe an official governmental transcript?

I will give you one concession, he did say ‘cuts’ so retirees should only expect to lose some of their meager benefit instead of all of it. He cannot forgive anything without congressional approval. Or at least that was the way things worked when Republicans claimed to back the constitution — that too has been thrown out the window.

They are already saying he didn’t say what he said: https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday...mp-did-not-mean-he-was-eliminating-the-social

Up until now I thought Trump was going to win reelection. By cutting the funding of Social Security, which is already projected to go broke in 2034, he has just handed the Democrats an issue they can win on. Who is advising Trump I wonder? Maybe people who want him out of office.

Now the Dems can crank up their time-tested scaring of old old and this time they will be right.

His direct words have been posted, video has been posted, the White House website has been posted.

Do you take issue with the interpretation of his words or have you even educated yourself on the subject before you interject?

They are already trying to backtrack: https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday...mp-did-not-mean-he-was-eliminating-the-social

We have never had a president that his staff continually had to translate what he actually meant so often.

Ignore what he said, he takes no responsibility, it is what it is.
    His entire presidency summed up.

The spin has been posted. Its clear he's going to forgive the deferral. The tax cut is through the end of the year.

This is just another chicken little attempt by liberals to say Trump is going to kill grandma or some such garbage. It gets soooooo old.

"“When he referred to 'permanent,' I think what he was saying is that deferral of the payroll tax to the end of the year will be made permanent,” Kudlow said. “It will be forgiven. The tax is not going to go away.”"
That's what I heard, the DIFFERAL will not have to be paid back.

That is exactly what he said. People wont get a big tax bill on 4/15/21 for the deferred taxes from the last 4 months of 2020. To say anything otherwise is simply stupid.

Did trump say “If I’m victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax” ... “I’m going to make them all permanent” ... “In other words, I’ll extended beyond the end of the year and terminate the tax”

It is interesting that his supporters always seem to know exactly what he meant even when if flys in the face of what he actually said. Almost like y’all are all working on the same talking points. Would you like for me to explain what the word “and” does in a sentence?

You are sick of Democrats taking what he says at face value instead of the mental gymnastics you jump through to defend it.

It's not put in the SS Trust Fund. All taxes must go to the general fund.

In US vs. Helvering, 1937, the SCOTUS ruled that all federal taxes, income taxes, estate taxes, etc. et al. go indiscriminately into the general fund. The Congress then makes appropriations. Whether it puts an equivalent amount into Social Security or not is simply a matter of another law which the Congress can decide to change at any time.

It's really a redistributionist welfare program set up to look like a Ponzi scheme and sold as an insurance plan. With or without payroll taxes, it still gets funded.

No... not "in other words" - that is spin and its total BS.

What he was saying was blatantly obvious. These cuts are going to be permanent. As in no tax bill for them come next year.

Which he cannot do without congress.

And that is exactly what he said. “In other words”

Why does what he exactly said never match up with what his supporters see a “blatantly obvious”?

So “liberals” (which includes independents and some right or center conservatives — non-cult45 members in other words) taking the presidents words at face value means they are lying about it?

Then again y’all do believe lies are truth now so it makes sense that you also believe truths are lies (we see this in the current fiscal and pandemic situation as well).

    Carry on

And now all Joe Biden has to do to win the presidency in a gigantic landslide is to promise to provide Social Security with the first decent increase in its cost-of-living factor IN OVER TEN YEARS!

70,000,000+ Baby Boomers may be more Conservative now than ever, but when somebody says they will deliberately CHEAT you out of an EARNED entitlement, that amounts to political SUICIDE!
