I live in a republican state that is open.... but the people have chosen to stay closed - republican politicians may want to open, but republicans say yeah, were not ready, we will wait for the experts

most fear round two after the reopening, especially instates that did not have enough cases to create heard immunity

really what politicians want is more to get infected, then they will re-close down, but they can't come right out and say that

I am glad you aren't a citizen that can vote. It seems that you would flush a whole economy of the largest country in the world to eradicate a virus. That could take a year. Even if it took six months it would be globally devastating. Billions would die eradicating one virus.

You remind me of Mike Wallace. That's not a compliment.

Smart people. We didn't wait to be told, here either. Our 'republican' leader dithered like an old lady, so most of us isolated ourselves and took our kids out of school etc. Not many waited until it all became law.

Billions will die if the virus is allowed to win. Millions will die if we fight it.

Wars are never casualty free. Fighting is a personal sacrifice, and takes courage .. just as it always has.

The virus will never be totally eradicated in the whole world or a vaccine that isn't due until September which isn't a guarantee.. That is the discussion. Do you agree? Do you agree that the world should stay locked down until it is, which will mean a total global economic catastrophe?

You said that you want everything locked down until the virus is totally eradicated or there was a vaccine or a treatment. We have a treatment but it isn't a totally successful treatment. That would be impossible. The nearest date for a vaccine is September. By then the whole global economy will collapse. Is that what you want? It's either or. Which is it? I even gave you an example where four states have a total of only 32 deaths and you still think they should stay locked down.

Of course not. But once it's down to below 1% growth we can ensure limited transmission via closed borders and modest adjustments to behaviour, PLUS we'll have a vaccine, PLUS effective treatment protocols.

We won't have a vaccine by September. Plan for 12 months (backdated to March 1).

Yes, I do think they should stay locked down. There will be no vaccine by September unless the Pom one being tested on humans this Thursday is a goer. What do you want....the dollar and many deaths, or fewer deaths and no dollar. That should be a no brainer.

When is it going to be down to 1% growth and does that apply to four states that have a total fatality count of 32? Should they stay shut down?

If 90% of the covid cases were between the Rockies and the Mississippi, do you think that the cities along the costs would have closed?

Stay away from the democrat controlled places because that's where the hot spots are. The virus must be Republican.

So you want to totally ignore the fatal effects of a total global economic melt down. Am I correct? I want a middle ground. If a state only has 7 deaths, such as Wyoming, I see no reason why they shouldn't function as normally as they can in that state.

Gawd.....no-one will die from your dollar meltdown unless Trump completely fails you. It is his job to put the lives of his citizens first, NOT the well being of Wall Street or his re-election.

You've used it inaccurately which by definition is not clear at all and perhaps is actually deceptive. It needlessly stokes fear. The statistic you are attempting to conjure is virtually meaningless due to the uncertainty of the base statistics.

    I don't give a sh*t about Trump.

And of course we do know that numerous asymptomatic and mild cases of this virus go unreported. There is plenty of evidence showing this.

So the REAL mortality rate for this virus is far lower than the figure you cited previously. And you have to know that. You cannot possibly think the real mortality rate for COVID is anywhere near 5.5%.

Which is why those suceptible can lock themselves away. Everyone else, just assume you are going to get it and carry on.
