I don't think they are the devil, for their is no devil. In fact, they do what they do in the name of their own god. Something all religious people share. Doing good things in the name of god just depends on who you believe your god is and what is socially acceptable in the society you live in.

There is one God. Every other god is satan in disguise. Are you on something? we are talking about the beheading of an 11 year old boy and a SIX YEAR OLD GIRL. for vengence sake. Or what don't you get?

There is no god, only people believing in a god which legitimizes their actions.

You just made an affirmative statement (as if it were fact) when said statement cannot be proved by any scientific measure whatsoever. Well done. So I guess while you don't believe in God, you also apparently don't even believe in the scientific method. What exactly do you believe in, pray tell?
Believing in a God doesn't "legitimize" people's actions nor does not believing in a God. We're all human beings. Also, what in the hell does God's existence or as you claim to be fact--his non-existence--have anything to do with the actual topic? The killings were not necessarily religious, the article said they were likely done by the Taliban or another extremist faction to intimidate people who support the current Afghanistan government. That indicates that it was political, not "religious."

I love these types of posts. All words with no actual understanding of the situation.

If that's you in the avatar you're what, 20? 25? You think you've lived life and have all of the answers because you haven't lived life and have none of the answers.

You blame God for these atrocities and then proclaim God to be a myth. lol....

Religion doesn't cause violence. A person's warped view of a religion causes violence. Just as any insane mass murderer will blame, for example, a dog for their crimes, an insane "religious" person does the same.

The Taliban killed these children in order to stop the citizens of Afghanistan from supporting a Government that's not Taliban controlled. There was no religion involved.

(Maybe you should stop running so much and save some of that O2 for your brain?)

Funny you should mention science and how my statement can not be measured scientifically. Thats not how science works. You don't try to measure something that is not there. You cant prove god exists in scientific terms, no more than I can prove he does not. Science is not in the business of trying to prove things don't exist. Science is an evidence based method of investigation. Not a faith based method of assumption.

Here we go with the scientific method talk again. Science is not faith based. The creation of a theory may be faith based, but once the scientific process takes place, that theory becomes scientific fact and no longer a theory. Any type of God is simply unprovable scientifically.

This is just ignorance speaking here. Or perhaps you just choose to ignore the evidence for it. People have been doing good and bad things in the name of religion since we have been on earth.

Because the actions here are committed by people who believe in punishing people by brute force to believe in their brand of religion. Do you not believe Shira law is derived from an extremist view of Islam?

You believe the Taliban differentiate politics and religion?

You can't say gods don't exist via science when your responses are chalk-full of simple and grammatical errors, though.

Tell me, can you demonstrate to us how to determine the radial velocities of stars traveling away from the earth?

Or how mitochondria and chromosomes can be manipulated on a cellular level by using false environments to create a physical adaptation?

    Cause I can't.

    I used to tho :(

Well, you got me there. Apparently since my spelling and grammer are terrible, god must exist.

I am not an astronomer, nor do I pretend to be one. I'm sure if your looking for answers to this question, you can research it yourself.

Nor am i a biologist, you would have to ask a biologist this question and not me.

Unlike the religious, I don't claim to have an answer to everything and am not afraid to say I simply don't know the answer, but I know science is working out the answers.

This post is worth nearly as much as the TP I used this morning when I took a dump. lol

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Your understanding of the scientific method, or anything else scientific, is on par with a 3rd grader. I suggest that you twist your next post(s) about science into another direction. Your incomplete understanding of how science works and what science is makes you look foolish. So, for the sake of your self, just stop.

People have been doing good and bad things in the name of nearly everything since they've been on earth. Should love, children, marriage, money, food, land, material things, ect etc all be done away with because people have done bad things in the name of them? What an ignorant, obtuse way of looking at religion.

Again, a person's warped view of religion is not the religions fault. It's the persons fault. The church that believes "God hates homosexuals" is not about religion, it's about a warped mind and hatred. I could warp nearly anything, then murder people...would you blame that which I warped too or would you blame me?

Yes, the Taliban does differentiate between politics and religion. Have you ever met a member of the Taliban? I have.

Quite obvious you are sensitive and open to other views other than your own. Its this type of close minded hatred that fuels the violence religious extremists resort to.

What about my understanding of the scientific method is inaccurate? Ask the question, do research, construct a hypothesis, test it, analyze results and then draw a conclusion.

This is true. You can be an Atheist and a Communist. You can be Islamic and a believe in a democratic system. You can be a Christian and a Communist.... However, it is quite interesting when you ask the question, name one good thing done in the name of religion, that cant be done by someone who is not religious? After you answer that question, then name a bad thing done in the name of religion? The answer to the first question takes quite a bit more time to come to than the answer to the 2nd question.

Either way, good or bad deeds does nothing to prove the existence of god. It only gives us an idea of what that god means in the eyes of the people who do believe.

I agree with all of this except for one thing...the Taliban actually believe they are doing the work of Allah. they, like so many Muslims are twisted into this thnking, sadly. the media tries to portray this type of thinking as a small sect of the Religion as a whole, but that's a lie. I would argue over 85% of Muslims want and support Sharia Law. and these types of actions are just a means to an end.

    Fear for Fortune and Faith.

The Taliban are nothing but a pack of animals who care nothing for human life and only wish to impose their religious views on to everybody. They should be wiped out to the last man. Leave no survivors.

Why are you there imposing your views on them then? You have, of course, proved your respect for human life again and again and again, as you demonstrate in your outline of the US ciivilizing mission.
    A lovely, logical people, Yanks.

Again, the Taliban do differentiate between politics and religion. Yes, they are religious extremists too...but make no mistake, most of their "leaders" are more about power than they are religion. Some of them may fight under the guise of Allah, but they are more concerned about their power.

No they don't, their political ideologies are directly shaped by their religious views. That is why they want religious law (Shira Law) imposed on the people.
