The East Coast got it under control, best we could.

If the states where the disease is spreading like wildfire had done what we did...

    But they didn't.

Now you want someone to blame.

    Try a mirror.

I'm sorry you don't like the truth - but the truth it remains.

    Almost, it's wit.

    My schadenfreude is a win/win.

The idiot states will keep getting worse until they admit they were wrong.

The comedy here is you think your nonsense in some way meaningfully addresses what I said.
    Keep the laughs coming.

You are not seriously claiming that the country flattened the curve successfully, are you?

Both were goals. One - flatten the curve - was the shorter term goal. The other - stop the spread completely - was the longer term goal.

Obviously, we are failing at the former and thus the later (which was always going to be extremely difficult) is virtually impossible.

The timing fits best with the reopening on May 1st.

I don't know. I imagine one half of one percent of the population being infected is not bad enough.

The real question is do you want Texas to reinstate the quarantine? Houston has the best hospital system in the country. That's why Texas has 2000 deaths in 90000 resolved cases and New York has 30000 deaths in 120000 resolved cases.

It is not a question if I want to quarantine Texas or not, it is a question whether the situation will get as much out of control that they have to quarantine. It looks like Abbott is rolling back his reopening plan, so maybe he is taking the sensible approach, before it gets fully out of control. We'll see what happens in the next two weeks.

Gov. Abbott ordered a state-wide mask mandate today for counties with more than 20 active cases.

It looks like a real vaccine may be just weeks away.

How many more people do you want to die so you can get in a few more weeks of bowling this year?

They should just tell business owners that if they don't follow guidelines such as social distancing and masks they will not be allowed to apply for financial aid if they are forced to shut down because of an outbreak. they should have done that all along and prohibited any businesses who were found to have not followed CDC guidelines from receiving tax aid.

The goal was to flatten the curve. Meaning, people will get sick, but we don't want them sick all at once and overwhelm the medical system.

The goal was never to stop the spread. Thats new.

The goal in the end was to prevent the people who are the most endangered by the virus from getting sick while allowing everyone else to get sick at a slow rate so that the immunity effect spreads. A certain perctage of the population that isn't endangered from dying from the virus has to get sick before the virus will actually stop spreading.

the issue is that these businesses that chose to stay open and not follow social distancing guidelines and mask-wearing and their businesses endangered everyone because they were allowing people who were extremely threatened by the virus such as people with asthma older people etc, to interact with people who were most likely carrying the virus with mild symptoms. Most people who got the virus have very very mild symptoms similar to mild cases of the flu or a cold. Some people have no symptoms at all, but they still could carry the virus infect other people. By not following social distancing these businesses undermined the entire reason for social distancing.

and I believe that these businesses that chose to stay open and not follow guidelines should be left to go bankrupt. they made their decision and they should have to live with it they shouldn't be allowed to use taxpayer money to pay for their stupidity they should be banned from applying for any type of aid if their butt if their businesses shut down because of the virus.
