Yes, the guy asserts that climate change is a myth, a hoax. I couldn't believe my ears when he was interviewed the other day by Andrea Mitchel on MSNBC on the topic. Ramaswamy starts by boasting that "fewer people have died in recent times from hurricanes than in the past" (or words to that effect).

Well of course fewer people die nowadays. It's rather indisputable that the hurricanes a fiercer and more frequent nowadays, being fueled by ultra-warm sea temperatures. The only reason that fewer people are killed as a result, compared to 50 to 100 years ago, is obviously attributable to better forecasting and better alerting methods, namely television.

Here is a link to an article that clarifies things some: https://www.politifact.com/factchec...ramsaswamys-misleading-gop-debate-claim-abou/

    Your claim is fake news.

'Researchers found no evidence on the timeline of larger than normal numbers of hurricanes forming over the past few decades—instead, it showed that the numbers were on par with prior spikes in the late 1940s and early 1880s. They also found no evidence indicating that modern hurricanes are any more powerful than those in the past.'

the hoax is that there is an impending doomsday, that government is the only answer, and that the western world is to blame. it is almost like climate change myth is being used to push communism.

You'll forgive the cynicism. For at least the last 50 years we've heard doomsday predictions that unless we change our evil ways we're gonna be buried under miles of ice/barbecued in our own fossil fueled oven/starve to death etc etc.

And to add insult the "experts" flit about in their private jets from their 30 room mansions housing their fleets of gas guzzling limos while telling us we must give up our fossil fueled beasts and our gas fired stoves and lawn mowers.

Sorry. Show me a doomsday prediction thats proven accurate and we can talk.

That's my issue. I keep hearing "believe the science," but the record on predictions about this from the late 80's on is terrible. A hypothesis can be tested by how it's predictions work out, and by that record it's terrible.

The church of climate change is the church of socialism. The two are intertwined, hand in hand.

Wow that study sounds so stupid. Looking at eyewitness accounts from the 1800s to figure out hurricane frequency to compare to modern numbers… really? I mean I get that data is limited, but don’t draw conclusions from that bullshit, makes you look like a hack.

“The old-time data stretched as far back as 1851 and came courtesy of records kept by workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The workers had collected the data from eyewitnesses across the eastern seaboard, along the Gulf of Mexico, islands in the Atlantic and fishermen venturing out to sea.” Imagine asking a fisherman his expert opinion on whether there was a hurricane nearby. Sure there was, along with the biggest fish ever!

That's because you are standing in front a mirror.

In the latest climate and energy video by German site Die kalte Sonne, media claims of increasingly stronger and frequent hurricanes are examined closely and reach the conclusion: “Over the past 170 years, hurricanes have not occurred more frequently or gotten more intense.”

My post was narrowly directed at the idiotic study design in the link you had. I am not a climate scientist, but I do know asking fishermen if they saw a hurricane is not a reliable measurement of hurricanes. Think a little more about what you cite.

Believe It or not hurricanes are not that hard to observe especially for people who are born and raised and work in the area.

First of all most of them are concentrated during about 3 months out of the hotter parts of the year.

And the clouds move in a way that is hard to mistake. Then there's the exceedingly excessive amount of rain and wind and lightning and tornadoes and exceedingly dark clouds over large areas that move in a very particular manner.... I'm guessing you've never been in a hurricane.

If you had to guess, would you say more people die globally from temperatures below optimal or from temperatures above optimal?

    Fake news.
He never said climate change is a hoax. He said the climate change 'agenda' is a hoax. That's not the same thing.

What's funny is that the climate change agenda true believers are the ones that go around saying that other people are in political cults

Do you favor conditions that lead to less all cause mortality or more all cause mortality? Some people care about the well being of others. Some don’t. I happen to favor less all cause mortality. That’s why it matters to me.

Terrible puts it super lightly, it's been embarrassing, of the second-hand level. I don't take anything they say seriously anymore, nor any of the policies enacted on its behalf. Mortal man cannot control the weather or the climate, or whatever thing they want to claim next.
