Lucifer. I could also use about 50 more seasons of Sons of Anarchy. Nip/Tuck was pretty good as well.

The only thing about the show that seemed it could forebode negatively for its future, was the speed at which Tudyk's alien starts to care about his medical assistant. I would've expected them to draw out longer, this evolution of his feelings. Yet, it did feel rewarding when he came to her aid. So maybe that did have something to do with the actors' connecting with the audience, making it easier for us to feel a connection with their characters.

And I assume they've got at least half the season already made, so for now, I'm definitely willing to wait & see how it develops.

I had a similar reaction to Mrs Maisel. That is funny in a way because her character is somewhat based on Joan Rivers, who I liked but not nearly as much as the character in the movie. I never wanted to 'do" Joan Rivers but I'll spend a night with Rachel Brosnahan any time she wants. :)

The Queen's Gambit. Did we mention that one? Fantastic series!

Well, Rachel Brosnahan is not only intelligent but very cute! And that episode when she gets arrested for flashing her boobs... oh my God!
Yes, The Queen's Gambit is a phenomenal series, too, made even more enjoyable for me because I used to play chess (I haven't played in years).

Yeah, I had to google her boobs after reading your comment. Damn, she really does have gorgeous boobs!

Same here, I played a lot of chess when I was young - starting at about age 8 I think... There were a few years, I think between ages 12 to 16, when I played an insane amount of chess and got very good. I even beat a friend of a friend who had been ranked 3rd in the nation as an amateur. But for some reason, I think mainly because of boobs et al, I stopped playing. :)

I loved Fleabag. Thanks! I call it a dark version of Mrs Maisel.

She surely does! They are perfect!
    LOL, very funny!
Wow, you beat the guy ranked 3rd in the nation! Impressive!
My best result ever was when I played a state champion to a draw by stalemate. But I must say, I got him by surprise. He didn't know me as a chess player; he knew me in a different capacity and when I invited him to play, he underestimated me and was sloppy at first until he realized that he was playing against a worthy opponent, then he toughened up but I had already progressed to a good advantage; he then counterattacked and I had to do my best to push my advantage until the end, managing to extract a draw from it. If we had played a second time with him taking me seriously from the beginning, he'd have won. So he wanted another game but I refused to play again... I wanted to have this result that I was able to draw against a state champion, stand for a good memory and I didn't want to spoil it by losing a second game, LOL.
Indeed Fleabag is very dark. It is very emotional; actually very heavy and thought-provoking, although very funny. The fact that Phoebe managed to be so intense and so disturbing while simultaneously so funny is proof of her genius. She is dynamite. Strictly speaking from the viewpoint of looks, intelligence apart, Phoebe while attractive is not as pretty as Rachel. But she is a more complete artist. Rachel is a fabulous actress. Phoebe is also a fabulous actress but also a genial screenwriter and director. So I find her more attractive than her looks, due to her smarts.

He had been some number of years earlier. And my situation was much the same. He underestimated me until I had gotten the advantage. By then I was good enough to stay one step ahead of him. But I have no doubt he would have kicked my butt in a second match. Unfortunately for him we didn't have time. And he was pissed. LOL. My father taught me to play and I beat him for the first time at about age 10. He got mad too. I can still remember him making excuses to my mother as to why he lost. I do wonder how good I might have gotten had I studied and trained formally.

I agree completely. And Phoebe can join Rachel and I in bed anytime she wants. :)

Her ability to play to the camera really makes it. I've never liked the idea of breaking character to engage the viewer. But she pulls it off beautifully. I just wish there were more episodes.

I think that's a major difference between the best British and American TV. Knowing when to stop.
Quitting when you are ahead rather than milking something until the ratings drop.
Faulty Towers is a good example. There were only ever 12 episodes and each one was a masterpiece (IMO).
Fleabag is another example, once she felt she'd fully explored the characters it was time to move on and do something else rather than keep repeating the same jokes like a mediocre sit-com.

Breaking the 4th wall has to be done well for it to work. Deadpool is a good example of it working and the English comic Stuart Lee makes it a major part of his routines. Breaking off to talk to the cameras to criticise his live audience for not being smart enough to get his jokes.
Often turning his back on the audience to do so. You have to be very good to pull it off. Stuart Lee is a master at it.

Did you happen to notice that at one point when Phoebe looks and speaks to the camera, the priest asked her why she did that. He knows... LOL!

    Yes, pure genius.
I agree with @Montegriffo that Phoebe was right about quitting when she was ahead. The two seasons of Fleabag were both perfect; there was a satisfactory ending, and a third season might have been overkill. Yes, one would want more, but there is always a risk of a series overstaying its welcome, and Phoebe is intelligent enough to realize that, so she put an appropriate end to it. We regret it because the series was so darn good and we'd want more, but maybe if we had had more, we'd have regretted it.

Faulty Towers was perfect too. I love British humor. Or I should say, humour, LOL.

The cast of Home Improvement was offered some ridiculous amount of money to do one more season. But they turned it down because they didn't think they had any good shows left in them. They didn't want to ruin it by doing a bad last season.

Some number of years later I heard Tim Allen comment on this. "What the hell were we thinking?!?!"

Why beat a show to death? $10 million is a pretty good reason. :)

Yes, but we can count on her to continue to do great things.
She is now working on a new series called Screenshots; it's in pre-production. I look forward to it.
Also, when she finished Fleabag, she launched into a rather spectacular project, Killing Eve. She was responsible for its first season and it is gorgeous. Have you watched it?

I think my greatest heart throb among actresses would have to be Nicole Kidman; most of all in Moulin Rouge. She was absolutely stunning, fantastically sexy and seductive, one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, but also daring and endearing as an actress and a singer. She wasn't a singer until she did that movie! Gutsy as hell!!! The entire movie was quirky, abstract, and high risk for all concerned, perhaps her most of all, but she was as much brilliant as she was a goddess.

I've been in love with Nicole for a very long time. :) I think she first captured my heart in 1992, in Far and Away.

Speaking of sexy as hell, I think this is one of the greatest movie scenes ever made; esp the second half.

Jodie Foster was my first love. Turns out I was barking up the wrong tree there though.

Margaret Thatcher's favourite show. So much so she named the Downing Street cat Humphrey.
Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office to give him his proper title.

Was it PT Barnham who said ''always leave them wanting more''?

    Resident Alien

It's funny, it's making me laugh; I have it on in the background and the alien's making me laugh.
I caught an episode by chance half way through on Sky One in the UK, hit record/created a series link (Virgin Media customer with TiVo boxes), found out they're on Sky Demand and the episode I caught was the 2nd episode.
I recognised one cast member I saw in that 2nd episode I initially watched too; Gary Farmer
from an old 1980's movie called Pow Wow Highway (1989)

I keep hearing good things about that. I don't have access to Sky programs though. 27 quid a month to Rupert Murdoch is a price I'm not willing to pay.

I have Virgin Media for TV, phone and internet; it's a little more than £27 per month (£29 a month), but it's not just TV.
I don't have any premium sports or movie channels, just the basic Virgin Package which includes more than enough for me.

Sky's on demand service is also a part of my subscription.

Making me wonder if Sky can offer me the same for £2 less.

Did they have phone and internet for that £27? @Montegriffo
I've heard they have DVR boxes, but Virgin Media has TiVo as standard now for my £29 and I use TiVo, a lot, so if that's what I'm getting for my £2, I'm fine with that.

    Watch...
FOX HD on 199 for either American Dad! or Family Guy (The Cleveland Show too) and FOX +1 for either American Dad! or Family Guy (The Cleveland Show too).
Comedy Central for South Park and they show movies and also Bob's Burgers and Fresh Off The Boat and Baywatch Reruns and Friends Reruns and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reruns.
I watch Sky 1 for The Simpsons, Futurama, and other shows like Reluctant Landlord and the new Twilight Zone and Resident Alien
I channel surf, and there's more things I watch on different channels, like Counting Cars, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars etc...
I flip mostly between BBC, Sky News and Euronews a lot.
I also catch more The Simpsons and Father Ted on Channel 4, I catch The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon on E4.
I catch more Family Guy! American Dad! The Cleveland Show.
I forget which station has given me Sabrina The Teenage Witch, but that's in my shows all recorded, and I watch shows on Dave like Red Dwarf.
    Blackadder comes on Gold.

I live off grid so my internet comes via Vodafone.
Unlimited data with added Amazon Prime for £37.
Handy when I'm in France as I can access everything I get here at no extra cost although I am limited to 25gb of data a month.
