I'm on 02 for mobile phone, honestly picked up the sim in the check out queue at my local Poundland and I pay £10 a month, if I wanted more, I'd pay more, if I wanted less, I pay less, worked when I went to the NL last summer direct, always worked for calls and texts for me before going through France, Belgium to get to NL. I believe back then I was on a different 'bundle' so paid a different amount, because I remember I could call internationally in 2015/2016 from NL numbers to the US and I had that for a while, but not anymore.
I was able to use the internet in the NL with my sim on £10 a month last year with my Samsung but not in 2015 or 2016, but I couldn't call local (NL) numbers in the NL, but had my internet on. I think it's £15 for a month if I want to make international calls with my phone, otherwise I can't call out of the UK and the line goes dead or puts me through to 02.

**This is all bringing back random memories of phone plans I had in 2015/2016 - 2018 times and experiences using my phone in other countries differing and me blaming the actual phone and not the plan. *sobering thought/epiphany.
Because I was blaming taking my Apple before and enjoying my Samsung for internet in that country (NL) yet not being able to ring NL numbers in that country because of my current plan realisations.
Maybe I should give 02 more money if I want it all.

All my calls and texts in Europe are free and unlimited. The only way I can get extra costs on my bill is to use premium phonelines which I never do.
When you include all the free calls, unlimited data, TV and movies anywhere in the EU My 37 quid goes a long way.
All with a £70 phone that I've had for 3 years without a problem. I still get battery life no worse than when it was new.
To think I paid about the same a month for my first ever phone and all it did was make calls, send texts and play Snake on a tiny little monochrome screen.

You mean, phones can make "calls"? What are these things, "calls," you talk about? It sounds so 2010! We do text messages, WhatsUp, FaceTime, Zoom...

I had a similar sobering experience a couple of years ago. I had a plan which gave me 30gb for £15 a month then I discovered a way to pirate The Wire and ran over my limit by a few mbs and ended up with a £90+ bill. I found I could boost it up to 50gbs with a year's free Amazon Prime thrown in for an extra £7.
I got close to my limit when in France one time so boosted it up to 80mbs for £25 a month and then eventually changed it to unlimited for £30 with 6 months at half price.
It really pays to keep on top of the latest tariffs offered.

I always jump nowadays when my phone rings. I'm so unused to it ringing anymore.
I do still like to speak to people on the phone though.
There are a few times when a text is just not appropriate. I had a call from an old friend I'd not spoken to for a couple of years this week to let me know an old friend had died of a heart attack. A text would have been completely inappropriate.
Video calls are just too much hassle, I only ever use them for my monthly poker tournament with my juggling mates first Friday of the month.
Went out first last night when my pocket aces came up against a Q10 which hit trips.

I was just trying to be funny. I do still make and receive some phone calls... but they are growing more obsolete.

I remember having a crush on her when I was very young. Do you remember this?

I remember my uncle taking me to see Taxi Driver which I found to be quite disturbing.

At my company we are connected using Microsoft Teams. Phone calls have definitely given way to video calls on the computer. A video call with anyone in the company is normally only a mouse click away. Very handy to be sure.

Perhaps we will finally see the end of travel for meetings. It is such a waste.

On the flip side, I hate it when people try to do in a text what should be a phone call. If I need to enter more than a sentence or two as text on my phone, I start getting annoyed very quickly.

No, I don't think we had that one here in the UK.
It was watching Jodie as Tallulah in Bugsy Malone when I was about 12 that got me exited.

I didn't see Taxi Driver until really quite recently. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and yes, it was quite disturbing.

Getting back to TV, I did enjoy The Loop. But they seemed to be playing the game of never explaining anything.

What was the show where they had all the crazy stuff that never did get resolved, Survivor? I get a sense that the people who made The Loop were going for the same thing.

I just tried watching The Triangle, which is a limited series [2 seasons] by design. It was terrrible! LOL! I hate when people who are clueless about science try to do science fiction. Instead of science fiction they just crank out nonsense. I actually winced a couple of times at the dialogue.

...then later, I remember seeing the poster for The Accused regularly as I crossed London on the Tube. Her deep blue eyes jumping out of the image.

I tried to watch the first episode of the Loop and gave up after a few minutes. I've heard good things though, maybe I should give it another chance.

I caught the latter half of this film review show for all the hot picks for 2021 by chance on SkyOne tonight in a show called Must See Movies 2021 according to the TV guide found on the 'ok' button of my remote and hitting back to earlier.

In that show I saw this

    Reminded me of
    Taxi Driver (1976)
    Reminded me of
    Contact (1997)
Then it reminded me of Forrest Gump, because in Forrest Gump you see a lady age before our eyes (Mrs. Gump), reminded me of Forrest Gump's mother... but not trying to.
Then I began to think of Shirley Temple, and how Jodie Foster is our Shirley Temple, and how I didn't see that one coming.
Random thought I had tonight about Jodie Foster, and now I see her even younger than when she was in Taxi Driver (1976) here... Random.

Oh yes, I always found her to be very hot. When I found out she prefers women, I just had to adjust my fantasies to include another woman when Jodi joined me for a romp. :)

It was on TV a month or so. I watched it again and still enjoyed it all the way through.
    Not seen Moulin Rouge.

    Yeah that looks brilliant.

You never see the old Tom and Jerry cartoons any more.

I have people at work who IM me like this:

    Them: Hey (waits)
    Me: Hey
    Them: How are you (waits)
Me: Great, how can I help you?

types for what seems to take minutes

Them: Can I ask you a question?

And so it goes and goes. I usually throw them on my side screen and keep working until I see them stop typing.

So I'm trying to figure something out
I am comparing last month's figures against this month's

    tiny bit more info
    tiny bit more info
    tiny bit more info

If it's more than a one sentence question and/or answer, I send an email.

That was Lost, and yes, The Loop pulled the same crap. Don't give me a juicy mystery you don't know how to solve. This should be basic stuff.

Yes, if I know we are both sitting at our computers it is even more annoying. I really don't understand this obsession with doing everything on your phone- on a tiny screen using tiny keys. People get caught up with the latest in gadgets to the point of being ridiculous.

I watch people go from one technology to the next while spending a fortune in time and money every step of the way. Most of the time I don't see any significant advantage. Take for example voice to text. Eeeeesh! I can't afford to worry about the phone hearing "I will" when I say "I can't", for example. The software makes some very serious errors that make it worthless for me. Eventually it will be practical, and maybe some software for computers is practical, but mostly everything up to now is nothing but a novelty.
