I'm gonna say no, to the orgasm question. But I did find that her transition from the very mellifluous and melodic, "Doot-dooo, duDoot, doot, duDoodoo," to the rougher sounding verse vocals, was effective in juicing up the vibe; I think she was trying to inhabit the tough girl image of the Rebel, who is the song's focus.

Now, if you want to compare something that sounds orgasmic-- here's my chance to post this flotsam, from my memory:

A bit different from the Hall cover, I know.
Bow Wow Wow only had one hit song, that I remember, which I hadn't been all that taken with-- but listening to it now, I have to admit that the rhythm is all right. If you are ready to take a time tunnel back to the early 1980's, here is a visual-- to compliment the audio of the other song-- with the video for, "I Want Candy."

To be honest I'd never heard of Paloma Faith until she was on the Pennyworth TV series playing a total psychopath. At the time her voice didn't seem to lend itself to singing, or so I thought.
    Glad to be wrong.

Ha! Wow, it does sound orgasmic.

I did notice the transition from the "mellifluous and melodic" to the "tough girl" sound. They did seem in opposition, but she handled it quite well.

Yeah! Who doesn't want candy? Good stuff.

That's amusing-- the way you each knew her, from only one of her two "lives." Or, who knows-- maybe someone out there, knows Paloma Faith strictly from some other facet of her life. Is any member, familiar with Paloma, from her dancing? Or maybe, as their auto mechanic?

No my auto mechanic is Bob. He doesn't sing. He hums.
Me: Bob, I smell gasoline vapors in the truck. If I light a match will it explode?
    Bob: Hummmm....

I'm reading about Paloma Faith. I thought her range was contraalto. Its not. Her range is mezzo soprano.

I’ll guess you’re about my age. Congrats for a long life. But then I know we’re both still young, relatively speaking.

The Cars has come to mind as a band I listened to and liked in late HS days. Listened to this one on decent stereo in ‘73 Firebird Formula 400 (one of my all-time fav cars).

Ironically, I heard for the first time on a mono AM radio station:

I'm not what you would call a fan, of Stevie Wonder's, but I do like this one, funky song:
    "Master Blaster (Jammin')"

Compare that rhythm to this Elvis Costello song, which came out 3 years prior to Wonder's:

Cover tunes are what I'm going to return to, for a couple of posts, anyway.

Let's start with an upbeat cover of "Stand By Me," performed by Emily Linge

Toni Lindgren, with a groovin' cover of "Sweet Dreams"

Madison Cunningham's lovely singing of, "In My Life"

"You're So Vain" cover, by Dea Matrona*

And finishing off, with Anne Reburn's version of the Big Band classic, "Moonlight Serenade," for all those fans, like @Gateman_Wen , of acapella work (though she does bring in some instrumentation here). It's Anne's habit, to play all the parts in her songs, sometimes putting her several selves together, into the same scene (that is, without any separating lines, as in this video). In fact, because I'd watched some of her videos just beforehand,
*I'd had to do a double take, with the prior, Dea Matrona cover-- since all 3 ladies bear resemblance to one another, I wasn't sure if they were all the same person; I could still be wrong, and they may be.

I have a little bit more about Reburn, for my next post.

I’ve started listening to country music sometimes, I mean since I stumbled across Jethro FM when turning the dial on an old stereo receiver. They just played this one:

Here’s another ‘recently played’ from that “country music with a twist” radio station:

Since there are a couple of different alignments, between your post and this one, I wanting to send you a "heads up." I just posted some more worthwhile covers, from 5 different performers/groups. The last one, Anne Reburn, who performs Moonlight Serenade, in this post--

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...ight-now-26-new.612868/page-4#post-1074414010

-- I had seen previously, doing a cover of one of the same songs, covered by Lena Hall (whose version of "Rebel, Rebel," you had found, um, invigorating). I don't think that Anne, actually, is as good of a singer as Lena. However, when it comes to acting sexy, Anne is quite accomplished, IMO, at that game. Or art?... Craft?

Regardless, here she is, covering Muse's "Starlight."

Personally, I would only call her looks "fair," but, the way she can animate them, projecting her thoughts & feelings-- even the projection is contrived, and so a false, inner self, she is expressing-- does transform her image, in a most skillful way.
