    Corruption makes a banana republic.

Now, we've heard the accusations off corruption being levied at Biden, et al.

Unfortunately, no evidence of money laundering or influence peddling has been produced.

Oh, many of you on the right claim you have, but I can only surmise you do not understand what constitutes these weighty charges. If you did, you wouldn't be making these allegations.

But, the best argument for what makes a banana republic was given by former Governor Chris Christie, in this 38 second clip:

The operative phrase Christie says, is "Do you think it's because he is some kind of an investment genius?".

That is the crux of the argument, and to see how it ties in, please watch this 38 second clip.

    My sentiments, exactly.

A banana republic is a bit like pornography. We know it when we see it. One of the key elements is the ruling government using government forces to prevent the opposition from running against them.

What makes a 'banana republic'? When a leader weaponizes the DOJ to attack his political opponent..

Biden threatened Trump.... and he has turn his weaponized government against American citizens already...
Biden has weaponized the DOJ (through legitimate efforts of the Constitution).. it is one promise he has kept...
Listen to the man words... communist dictators say those sort of things
"We have to demonstrate that [Trump] will not take power if he does run. Making sure he under the legitimate efforts of the Constitution, does not become the next president again."

A banana republic is a nation with an economy and government controlled by foreign companies engaged in export of a commodity.

So maybe you'll be able to do what Biden has been unable and unwilling to do...... Explain what goods or services he and his family provided to receive millions of dollars from multiple foreign countries.

Things they do in a banana Republic are prosecute their political opponents and hijack the legal system to remove them from the ballot or attempt to do so.

They seem to have instead controlled our military brass and the politicians, which in their calculation is an upgrade.

We covered this ground. Do you homework, read the transcript.
No, in a banana republic, they make up charges, they steal money.

    Watch the clip.

In Trump's case, there is plenty of evidence.

    With evidence, no banana.

Since you haven't provided evidence to this date, about Biden....

    *No banana for you.

    *Pun intended

Please show us the documentation and bank accounts of this Kushner and Saudi Investment... that is discussed in your 38 second clip.... that you yourself selectively edited from a PBS NewsHour clip

    Let's play by your rules...
State your point, your allegation, your argument, then....
    1. Link to the court transcript, cite page numbers and lines.
    2. Explain what law was broken
    3. Link to or copy and paste the actual code with citations.
    4. Explain how the testimony comports to the law that was broken.

But, of course, you can't do that. You won't do that.
I think you are incapable of framing a proper argument.

Weaponizing the courts to silence political opponents is a sign of a banana republic.

When you look at the honest reality of what makes a "banana republic" an actual BANANA REPUBLIC, it's the people! Look that the people themselves, who and what they actually are, and what they DO.

Apologists always try to blame the sad, sorry situation in "shithole" countries on everything else besides who and what the people are who populate these "banana republics", but not all the distraction and rationalization in the world can change the fact that if the PEOPLE were of better quality, the whole country would be better, too....

    Hint: HAITI! :lonely:

Well then, following your “logic,” the American people are of very low quality.

EXCELLENT! Man, I do miss George Carlin! We lost him in 2008, months before we elected Barack Obama... twice.

George was right! "Garbage in, garbage out". And ever since the beginning of the 21st-century, that's just about all we've had in this country -- besides an insanely overvalued stock market.

Technically true. And an apt demonstration of how imperialism and slavery impoverishes the consciousness and dislocates ones culture.

On the other hand I'm sure the native Taíno were doing very well before their near-genocide.

Yeah, and the sad thing is, Trump would never be elected but for a fluke of the Electoral College system, which is why I started the other thread 'the EC is ripe for reform". However,. that 40% of America likes the ****** is a sad statement about America.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- the Constitution can be amended, as it has been 27 times already. That's the only way that those who dislike the Electoral College will ever remove it.

The EC serves the purpose of preventing huge city-states that are predominately ruled by one political faction from dictating to all the rest of the nation. Examples of what our Founding Fathers didn't want was a situation like England (where London power-brokers called all the important shots), or France (where Paris exercised suffocating power).

But, sure, if you're a neo-socialist in 2024 and you live in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc., etc., you'd want to abolish the EC. If you live in other than liberal-dominated enclaves today, you would want to keep the EC.

One man's "imperialism" is another man's "war of conquest". One man's "slavery" is another man's "subjugation of an inferior race". To one man, all these descriptions define behavior that is both predictable and obvious -- but to another man, they are cruel, horrible, "racist", etc.

What I'm suggesting is that based on what can actually be observed at any point in time, a country (whether its a "banana republic", or, a successful nation which has achieved great power and prosperity) is most accurately assessed by looking directly at the nature, the quality, the achievements, and the beliefs of its citizens! Sure, there are many other peripheral considerations, but a nation IS its people... nothing less, and, nothing more.

And, fortunately, a "banana republic" doesn't always have to remain one. But it won't ever improve until its citizens, themselves, improve.... If they won't do it for themselves, no one will do it for them.
