Well, you might admit that Trump accomplished just a bit more than being a game show host.... Like turning an inheritance of $120 million into several billions.

But, no, I'm no fan of Trump on the economy either. He loudly advocated NEGATIVE interest rates, and that was enough to convince me that he was a shallow con artist.

All Trump needed to do to turn those millions into billions (assuming he isn't actually in the red in the first place) would have been to put it in the S&P 500. That's it. No, there's nothing remarkable there. And you might want to look at Swift's own business successes if that's your new measure.

I don't have any "new measure", Yardie... and in the case of a ho-hum 'talent' like Taylor Swift, what other "measure" is even applicable beside that of financial accomplishment? You could say that it's somewhat the same with Trump -- who took much notice of him at all before he became a billionaire?

Oh, yes, Swift's worth $1.1 Billion dollars -- an excellent degree of attainment for someone with her, uh, 'talent'. Link: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/taylor-swift-net-worth/#:~:text=She also owns numerous pricey,"1989," Bloomberg reported.

You can blame my ennui on my being an old guy. I listen to a Swift tune and think, "So... what's all the bug-eyed hysteria about...?" My parents' generation thought much the same thing about the Beatles....

Back on topic, she has a record of being a prominent lib... so, why would it surprise anyone if she came out 'loud and proud' for anything 'woke', including Joe Biden and his minions...?

You said Trump was an exception to your view on entertainers in politics because of his financial success. If that's your standard, Swift meets it as well. It isn't like Trump has talent for much more than conning people and spreading hate.

You inferred that Trump's rise to fame and fortune was as a result of being a "game show host", i.e., somewhat equivalent to Taylor Swift enjoying a meteoric rise to wealth and renown by being a singer/entertainer. I think we can all agree that Swift got her billion bucks by being a singer/entertainer, but Trump got his billion(s) in business deals and real estate transactions... not by being a TV 'personality'....

If it clears the air, NO, I'd prefer that Donald Trump never sets foot in the White House again. Are you listening? Unfortunately for all of us, the choice we'll face is Trump, or, Biden, which is like asking us whether we'd like to have vomit or diarrhea for lunch.... Hey, maybe Taylor Swift could run as a third-party candidate!

Dude, he was dead broke when he became a game show host. And we don't even have any real evidence now that he's a billionaire besides his own words. He was deep in the red when he became a game show host, and he very well may be in the red now. We know from what few tax returns we've seen of his that there were many years where he was barely breaking even.

Dude, whether we love him or hate him, Forbes estimated Trump's net worth (as of March 26, 2024) at $4.3 Billion dollars.

"Forbes has estimated his wealth for decades and estimates it at $6.4 billion as of April 2024, with Trump making much higher claims. Trump received gifts, loans, and inheritance from his father. His primary business has been real estate ventures, including hotels, casinos, and golf courses." Link: https://www.forbes.com/sites/danale...tive-networth-of-donaldtrump/?sh=1c9bd50f2a8e

I trust Forbes a hell of a lot more than poring through somebody's personal income tax returns... because the mega-wealthy never pay a penny more in taxes than they are forced to, and they have armies of tax lawyers and tax accountants to make sure they take full advantage of all the loopholes, shelters, etc., etc.

If I had my way, Trump would go play golf for the rest of his life at one of his resorts, and, Joe Biden would get wheeled-off to a nursing home in Delaware -- but not before January 20, 2025! Why? Because if Biden left early, it would put Kamala-la-la in the Oval Office!

    Good point......

yes... it is highly probable that President Donald J. Trump will offend Taylor Swift but.......
    ......
I am thinking that if President Trump chooses Ms. Tulsi Gabbard as his running mate then...... Taylor Swift might just forgive him......... and vote for Trump - Gabbard???????!!!!!

Am I being naive to think this way???????

I wasn't a Pence fan either. In reference to January 6th, he said, "Donald Trump put my family at risk". If that's the case, then he is gutless. If anybody put my family at risk, I would go after them with guns ablazing. He should have been leading the charge for impeachment.

That said, one of my Republican friends liked Pence, and was hoping he would win the nomination.

Pence put them at risk by becoming a public figure as is the nature of being a public figure.

I can't figure out this fascination with Tayler Swift, and her political views, and how she intends to express them. She seems to be representative of your average sort of 30 something year old American woman in both political acumen and intellectual vigor. What's the big deal here?

I stand by my point. Pence stated "Donald Trump put my family at risk". Now you might think what you think, but Pence stated what he thought. If somebody put my family at risk; I would do everything in my power to protect my family from that ever happening again. Pence was gutless in his reaction. He should have been singing from the mountaintops - impeachment, criminal trials, etc.

Pence "put them at risk" by obeying the Constitution when his wannabe fascist running mate wanted him to wipe his ass with it instead.

Pence isn't immune to criticism because he has a family. He chose to be a public figure and this comes with the territory. Trump never advocated for violence against pence.

Pence shouldn't have had people threaten him and his family just for obeying the Constitution against Trump's orders. I'm sorry you disagree.

How much of that estimation was based on Trump's self-reporting . . . keeping in mind that he's PROVEN to have LIED to Forbes before to get on their list. I'll leave you, after that, to pretending that a business venture in the red or close to it, year after year, is somehow "successful." You are going to have to take up these pathetic excuses with someone who has no experience in business. No one with two braincells to rub together is buying this.
