I read this and I just shake my head. The abject ignorance of reality, to say nothing of the contempt demonstrated for the Constitution, is just depressing.
I could almost forgive that behavior on the part of a foreigner; but I see a lot of Americans voicing similar ideals, and that is what troubles me more and more as time goes on.
If you could sit and smoke and not harm others, then smoke. If you could sit and own a gun and not harm others, own a gun. But, as figures show, people are not responsible enough, that's why legislation is brought in, unfortunately, to the annoyance of the responsible users. We have guns on the UK but are heavily legislated, hence we enjoy their use but hardly shooting anyone. The legislation tries to make sure that only responsible owners own them.
First of all, since you just joined, welcome to the forum. Your question seems to be: "What would you if something in society resulted in 33,636 deaths per year?" in reference to gun control. There are many things that cause a large number of deaths: auto accidents, cancer, war etc but as far as additional gun control laws go, there are already 20,000 gun control laws on the books. Homicide is already one of the most harshly punished crimes yet they continue to occur. Why? Because of the simple reality that criminals, by definition, don't obey laws. Therefore, additional laws are not likely to make a difference. I lean toward more pre-emptive measures like making mental health treatment more readily available & easier access to firearms training. If you wanted to save even more lives, you could lower the maximum national speed limit to 35 mph but, apparently, most people see such a measure as grossly impractical and accept the higher death rate from auto accidents as just one of life's gruesome realities. I'm afraid that with the exception of the measures I've already suggested that homicides etc are crimes that have plagued mankind since the beginning of time and will continue to do so as long as humans inhabit this planet. The tools people use to commit homicides etc may vary from era to era but the human predisposition to commit crimes will remain the same. Thanks
1), Find out WHAT the problem is. 2). Find out WHY the problem is 3). Find SOLUTIONS 4). Chose the BEST SOLUTION 5). ELIMINATE the problem.
There are reasonable measures that can be taken to reduce gun deaths. Filling out a form is not unreasonable
For Xmas the wife got me a Henry Evil Roy rifle, as of late most of my rifle and handgun purchases have been for my grandchildren who have yet to be born. Op, if you think that you can breed away 2A you are just as crazy as atheist thinking that a godless world will be just a few generations away. Op, I find you rather ignorant and arrogant.
All that legislation can do is to try and reduce death, hence speed limits etc.. So why can't we own hand grenades, RPG's and tanks? Just because other weapons etc.. exist that cause death, doesn't mean you should ignore guns. If you don't have guns and legislated limited guns, you wouldn't have anywhere near the number of gun deaths.
That's your prerogative. It's likely you would still hold those beliefs even if your grand children were caught up and shot in a massacre. I find it interesting you consider yourself in a morale good light!!
No, it is a right. You are sadly a very confused person.....a negative one at that when your final conclusion is massacre. Let me guess, you support the constitution as long as it supports your beliefs and **** those who do not think like you?
people like you are why people like me need to be well armed. if that sort of law is passed, the people "dying off" aren't going to be the gun owners.
