It's not a matter of whether your Pakistani doctor is personally blowing up the subway, it's a matter of whether he supports (morally or even financially) those who do. Education does not seem to have the same impact on the Religion of Peace as it does on Christianity.

In order for a Reformation to take place, there needs to be Caliphate to direct it. There are 30-odd Muslim States and each one practices a slightly different brand of Islam, so once Muslim State under-going a "Reformation" is not going to have a great impact on other Muslim States.

There's also the issue of Sunni and Shi'a (plus other minor Sects). A "Reformation" of Sunni Muslims will have no impact on Shi'a.
