    Try to defend Biden without deflecting to Trump. This has nothing to do with Trump. Biden is the one at fault and please make it make sense.

    Over 200,000 illegal criminals caught trying to cross our border in July and less than 100,000 are sent back. Biden is releasing the rest into America. Why?

    FB_IMG_1629058339321.jpg

    Over 200,000 illegals were caught in July and many will be let into America. Let that sink in.

    Are you all honestly ok with this?

    So all of you Biden supporters remain silent because none of you can actually defend Biden releasing these illegals into America. Noted.

    Thank you, Matthew.

    OK. I could read the full articles for the first two links because I've already reached my monthly limit for free articles.

    Nevertheless, it appears the twitter post is accurate with the number of people detained but not the number of people sent back. So that information is NOT COMPLETE. According to the last article you linked, the majority of them are being returned either under...

    (1) Trump's Title 42 - policy that allows border agents to expel undocumented migrants to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in holding facilities)

    or

    (2) an expedited removal process that allows immigration authorities to remove families without a hearing. The families that are part of the expedited process are those who could not be expelled by Title 42, but “do not have a legal basis to stay in the United States.”

    Given the Administration's response of sending back more people due to COVID concerns seems like the right decision at this time and I anticipate that will continue to grow as both Delta and Lambda (and any other variants until we can get this under control) move across the country.

    Do you have any reason(s) to believe this will NOT be the case? If so, what are you concerns and on what are you basing them?

    As an aside, and this isn't necessarily important to the current crisis, my gut feeling is telling me that some of this is being staged to present a certain image and malign Biden. For examples, someone posted an article last week about people with COVID spreading Delta everywhere but the actual source article stated that people aren't tested coming IN, only when being sent back so that looked "confusing" to someone just doing a quick scan. Also, I never really believed the whole t-shirt brigade. In his early days, there were photos of countless people wearing t-shirts with "Let us in, Biden." Granted, I've never lived in a country torn apart by rampant crime, crossings countless miles to get to another country or been separated from my children by law enforcement officials, but my best guess is I really wouldn't care if I was color coordinated and wearing matching t-shirts. It all felt a bit "too staged" for my liking anyway.

    I mention that because I think it's important for us to not only be aware of how the media "frames" the information it's reporting but what they are also excluding to subtly guide us into a specific direction is all. All media does it. All politicians do it. We just have to remain vigilante in not allowing ourselves to be manipulated into blindly accepting *whatever* it is because we want it to be true. I'm not saying you are doing this or that I am doing it. I honestly don't believe some people realize they do this and that's where we run into trouble trying to talk about our differences of opinions and interpretations of the information we receive from our own government and media outlets.

    You make it sound like you are trolling rather than looking to discuss and issue, but I will bite. The Biden Administration has had significant problems dealling with the border and should spend more effort trying to com up with solutions. No one has stopped the problem, but numbers are increasing.

    Absolutely when you begin the discussion with the attitude in the above statement. It is not a discussion, you are not interested in listening. You are only interested in putting people down and proving (in your mind) your "superiority".

    True, but we should try to remain mindful that it's a human condition. I sincerely believe that many people that repeat what they here (without fact checking) are not willfully being antagonistic. Our whole society is based on putting us all in neat little boxes and we want "to belong" so we accept that.

    We call it a political party, a tribe, a fellowship, a union or any other terms, but at the end of the day all it is really is people wanting to feel like they "belong" and in that belongingness they adapt to the ideologies of those around them to "fit in". More times than not it's not malicious.

    We see this in religious denominations,
    Co-workers in the workplace (ie police officers, doctors, lawyers, coaches, etc.),
    Our neighborhoods,
    Our schools, (ie book clubs, chess clubs, fraternities, sororities, etc.)
    Our sports,
    Our own families.

    To stand in solidarity with a group vision, however "right" or "wrong", brings a sense of pride and togetherness and it's psychologically easier to believe that we are *right* solely because those around us (where we insulate ourselves) provide that validation.

    Most of us will not defend him, we are not in a cult and he is not some heroic figurehead. If he screws up he screws up and his voters will acknowledge that.

    He was elected with overwhelming majorities because of one issue.
    Y’all keep thinking the left and moderates have the same narrative as the right does with their representatives.

    Having said that, the border is and has been a disaster — until we demand Mexico start doing their part to end this, the nations that the immigrants are fleeing fix the root cause or we militarize the boarder it will remain an issue.

    I cannot blame people for wanting a better life for themselves and their families though. Can you?

    Creating a false narrative in your own mind and then demanding others defend it is a logical fallacy at minimum, trolling most likely.

    Agreed. I am not a Biden (or Trump) fan. I frankly want us to gut the place and just start over and hope somebody has some George Washington DNA. The status quo simply isn't working well.
    Accurate. And, it's worrisome that Trump supporters can't or won't acknowledge that one issue got him fired.
    This is often called "the hive mind".
    I agree wholeheartedly. One can not solve a problem they won't even acknowledge, and, in this case, there is nothing Biden can do unilaterally to *FIX* this. Trump couldn't. Obama couldn't and all the way back through every former President. Until we, us here, in the US from all or no parties can truly work toward accepting that this is a problem for all of us - it's not going to get fixed. It will keep shifting blame as each party occupies the White House. We've done that formula. It does NOT work.
    I stand with you on this. I don't understand why some people can dehumanize people in order to make themselves feel superior. I have no doubt whatsoever that any of us facing the insurmountable odds and constant chaos and traumas these people are facing would choose to flee and protect themselves and families by whatever means were necessary.

    There is also a component that seems to be overlooked but these people would not be able to come here and find spot if Americans and American-owned companies were not hiring them. So, this isn't an issue of "Get out of here!" to them, but an issue of confronting those private and corporate employers that rely on the work they are willing to do under the table to avoid paying fair and reasonable wages to American citizens.

    We can sit here and play Monday morning quarterback for all of eternity. The bottom line is...how much do YOU want our country to succeed and as Kennedy asked "Ask what you can do for your country."

    We can't keep buying products that have been exported at the cost of American jobs.
    We can't keep ignoring the huge pay gap between most of our society and teachers.
    We can't keep ignoring our own contributions that essentially give others the lion's share of our spending dollars.

    That is not a formula that will ever work in our best interests.

    After 9/11 we all stood in solidarity against the people we blamed for what they did to our country. There is absolutely NO reason why we can't do that now and always.

    We have to accept that somebody sitting in the Oval Office has a letter behind their name that we don't like, but, regardless, that person is OUR president.
    We can keep fighting with one another. That's easy.
    We can keep blaming the other side for everything. We can keep being angry.
    We can keep doing nothing to bridge the gaps (often media generated) that divide us.

    And, with those choices we are willfully accepting to be overtaken by whomever or whatever wants to replace our country as a world superpower. We simply can NOT have it both ways.

    It has to stop and that starts with each one of us.

    There is a funny that's been circulating for years in which a man is complaining to his buddy about his wife. His buddy listens until his friend finishes and asks "Do you want to be *right* or do you want to be *married*?

    My question is "Do you want to be "right" or do want to live in a free America?"

    There's nothing else to worry about. That's it. Full stop.

    WHO WILL PROVE THAT BIDEN IS RELEASING "ILLEGALS," INTO AMERICA?

    Don't you think that need come first? Your included, little tweets, don't confirm anything of the sort.

    There are a ton of sources, I find, all with the same basic bottom line: border encounters are at a 21-year high. These are encounters (which may involve any number of migrants) in which the illegal border-crossers are either taken into custody, or immediately transported south of the border. This includes through a new, BIDEN program, which flies immigrants from Central America down to remote parts of southern Mexico. Here, read yourself. This first one I quoted my SNIP from another thread. The source is the BBC

    Pew Research Center, from 3 days ago:
    https//www.google.com/amp/s/www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/08/13/migrant-encounters-at-u-s-mexico-border-are-at-a-21-year-high/?amp=1

    <Snip>

    Migrant encounters refer to two distinct kinds of events: apprehensions, in which migrants are taken into custody in the United States to await adjudication, and expulsions, in which migrants are immediately expelled to their home country or last country of transit without being held in U.S. custody.

    Most encounters that have occurred in recent months have resulted in expulsion, not apprehension, under a public health order known as Title 42. President Donald Trump’s administration invoked Title 42 in March 2020, arguing that it would slow the domestic spread of the coronavirus by expelling migrants rather than holding them in close quarters in U.S. immigration facilities. Between April 2020 and the end of the Trump administration, more than 80% of monthly migrant encounters at the southwestern border resulted in expulsion rather than apprehension.

    [IMG]
    Expulsions have become less common – and apprehensions more common – in the first months of President Joe Biden’s administration. In July, 47% of migrant encounters resulted in expulsion, down from 83% in January, when Biden took office. During the same period, the share of migrant encounters that resulted in apprehension rose from 17% to 53%.

    Despite this shift, the Biden administration announced this month that it would allow Title 42 expulsions to continue, given the current increase in migration and the threat posed by the delta variant of the coronavirus. The administration is also reportedly preparing to offer coronavirus vaccines to migrants who are apprehended and held in U.S. custody.
    <End Snip>

    CBS NEWS, from 6 days ago (this one has a video, with a police car in it):

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...cutions-deter-migration-biden-administration/

    <Snip>
    The Biden administration is ramping up deportations and prosecutions of migrants crossing the southern border illegally amid a 21-year high in migrant arrests and concerns about the rapid spread of the coronavirus Delta variant.

    U.S. authorities are now flying Central American migrants deep into the Mexican interior using a Trump-era public health order that was extended indefinitely last week, according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, who said the expulsions are meant to curb repeat border crossings and the spread of the coronavirus.
    <End Snip>

    It looks to me, that your thread is based on a false assumption.

    From my quick look, your link says that the Biden Administration, when the Texas, "welcome center," gets too full, they need to move people to other WCs, obviously. These people are in U.S., ICE CUSTODY; being detained, until their cases can be adjudicated. About half, BTW, are immediately sent back either to their home country or the last country they were in (Mexico). This is part of a public health measure, to avoid too great a build-up of detainees, during the pandemic, instituted under Trump, but extended by Biden, called Title 42. Biden recently added to that, a new program, for those from Central America but who were being returned to Mexico, that flies them down to the bottom, southerly part of Mexico, close to Central America, but far from our border (which I think is like 2000 miles away), to cut back on the rising # of repeat-crossers. Why don't you read my post, that you replied to, or any of the several links that I provided?

    As for your thread, there aren't enough holding facilities, right by the border to hold all those illegal crossers who are apprehended-- can you guess where?-- right by the border. Duh. Are you kidding me? THIS need for moving prisoners to other detention facilities is what has a bunch of you all worked up, on your soapboxes, about Biden shipping illegals across America, coming to a town near you?

    PATHETIC!

    I don't think they are all actually being detained while their cases are awaiting adjudication. That's the issue.

    "About 50,000 migrants who crossed the southern border illegally have now been released in the United States without a court date. Although they are told to report to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office instead, just 13% have shown up so far, Axios has learned."

    That's 50k TOTAL. Your Axios article cites just one stretch of the Rio Grande River basin, that had 20,000 apprehensions, in a single week. Or, from the Pew Research link I have, a couple of posts back:
    <SNIP>
    The U.S. Border Patrol reported nearly 200,000 encounters with migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border in July, the highest monthly total in more than two decades.
    <END SNIP>

    200k, in one month. And here you are, objecting to the Biden Admin. needing to move them to different holding facilities, because those near the Texas border are getting too full. Well maybe that's what happened: we had all these border-crossers in custody, with no room for all the new ones. So Biden's team tried to move some to a new facility (which would obviously need be further north from the border). But the dumb-ass Texas Governor got in the way, for the political exposure-- as if there was a chance in hell of Abbott becoming President; I have my doubts about his ability to win re-election to the Governor's Chair. So, ICE called up their boss, who called up Biden, & asked, what do we do? We have more prisoners to detain, but no more room, because Texas won't let us securely transport the overflow, to other facilities. To which Biden replied, "Here's what you do. Now, Abbott has his state troopers holding back our buses, right? So you got to wait until it's dark, and then just let a bunch of 'em out, on foot. I mean, you need the room, right?"

    Would serve the moron right, if that's the way it happened. But, seriously, this is a huge number of people, that is taxing our resources to deal with them all. Would you prefer if the border patrol wasn't out there, apprehending them? Well, once they're nabbed-- & as I quoted, earlier, a lot are sent immediately packing, and we are now even flying the Central Americans who would normally just be turned around & sent back to Mexico, all the way down to the bottom part of Mexico-- we need a place to keep them, until their case (as for asylum) can be adjudicated. So, as we have been running out of room, the Biden Admin. figured that those who seem the safest options, they'll release, on their own recognizance, in order to make room for housing those they might feel less sure about having walking around, freely. It's only a matter of necessity, dude. What do you think, Biden or Harris are just opening up the doors & letting detainees run loose, for the fun of it?

    You are exaggerating the effect, & scale of this. That's 50k out of how many??

    To a degree I agreed with you and yet you could not accept that. Why? Because you were looking for someone to belittle.

    Who is denying that. Based on numbers you are both right and wrong. The numbers are "skyrocketing you are correct in that. People are denying that the numbers are "skyrocketing" even the Biden administration agrees with that so that is the weakness of your argument. You place something out there that isn't generally true in order to try to get others to defend it so you can say "see".

    The strategy in that is relatively simple. They throw it out there as a dog whistle to others who share their views. It's not about exchanging ideas or finding solutions, but becoming almost addicted to the validation within that echo chamber.
