It's not Democrats flying confederate flags. And slavery has been over for a long time.

They support the party that supports them, Democrats.

Having a perceived racist as the leader of the party is not the way to gain support from the black community, again, support to Democrats.

Trust and Empathy

African Americans trust the Democrats more. They may not like a lot of what the Democrats do, but many of them really do think that a GOP run government means it's lynching time. They don't trust Republicans. They seem to feel that Republicans are at best indifferent and at worst actively hostile to their interests and themselves as Black people.

Whenever there is a racial issue, no matter what it is, the Democrats take their side, regardless of facts. Most people on the right thought the Jussie Smollett "hate crime" smelled fishy right from the start. I'm sure plenty of Democrats did too, but they towed the line and went along with it, right till the end. Same thing with other incidents like Ferguson. I bought the story for a few days until the security cam footage came out, then got more and more suspicious since almost every bit of evidence that came out after that dispelled the "gentle giant" myth. Democrats still think (or at least say) that the cop got away with murder.

And of course Trayvon... The facts of that case never changed from the initial incident report, but the country had to go through two years of hysteria just to arrive at the exact same conclusions the cops made on the scene. Again, Democrats stuck with the hysteria, ignored the evidence, and won invaluable good will from the black community.

In all of those incidents, the Democrats were there taking their side and the Republicans were not. I really think it's that simple.

 

You offered no explanation why blacks support the party of slavery, i.e. Democrats. Very hard to sweep that under the rug.

The Republican party was formed in the early 1860s. The Democrat party remained the party of slavery and Jim Crow up to at least the 1970s when they had their ass handed to them.
