Nope. My view on guns is rather complex. It doesn't do well in the left vs. right narrative.

So when I said "I'm guessing" prior to a statement, you interpreted that as a statement of fact?

We are not living on an island.

well strict is a relative term. but at least we can agree - guns should be highly regulated on islands.

Why? What makes an island so fundamentally different that its people cannot enjoy the benefits of self defense with firearms?

Your examples are island nations, complete with spineless, nanny state loving people who are content with turning their personal security over to the government and imprisoning anybody who defends themselves. We are a heavily armed nation with Constitutionally protected rights, including the right to keep and bear arms. The last time I checked, the other 49 states have unrestricted access to and from Hawaii. While they are an island physically, they are not so isolated socially and politically. Even if they were, they still have the same rights we do in the CONUS,

hence disproving your original contention that gun control would work less well on non-islands than on islands. thanks.

I agree that the people could be oppressed easier on an island, but you are the only one encouraging it with your intentionally obtuse arguments.

Why Do I Need An "Assault" Weapon? For the zombie apocalypse of course. Oh, and because I look cooler holding an assault rifle than a can of pepper spray.

Especially if the armed citizen has asthma, pepper spray can be deadly, even more so when used in close quarters like an elevator or a car. Guns are much more useful.

Besides, a Ruger 10/22 would be the ultimate zombie rifle, in my opinion, with a GSG MP5PK as the ultimate zombie pistol. ;)

Didn't stop me from buying some zombie ammo for my .45ACP.

I prefer to be informed it is my turn to become well regulated to keep and bear those Arms which may be used to suppress insurrections and repel invasions.

Pepper spray works less than 50% of the time its used....if you have an imminent threat of death of great bodily harm you want something more effective than pepper spray, like, I dunno, MAYBE A GUN????????????????? But maybe I just think my life is worth more than yours (it is)....

Getting hit with pepper spray sucks, but it doesnt stop you from doing much.

Yeah, but pepper spray can also be used to give your food a zing! :D

Good choices. A friend of mine suggested Dragon's Breath shotgun shells but I told him he would have flaming zombies to contend with then.

yep. Listen, at some point we have to personally responsible, not to rely so much on government. Any time the government wants to control our Rights, they are no longer Rights, but privileges.
You have yet to show what an "assault weapon" looks like and define it. I'm going to shakily assume that what you are talking about is anything more than a single shot firearm or a device that only maintains 3 rounds and it, and anything else that "looks scary" should be banned.

The Semi automatic rifle ban is just proof that gun control in America is an absolute joke. Semi automatic rifles are used in less murders then hammers, fistfights, by cops, or numerous other ways to die. Banning semi automatic rifles to stop gun violence is like putting a band aid on a severed arm. Even if I thought weapons were the problem, which they are not, I would go after pistols over rifles.

This far into the thread, I want to make sure that someone makes the obvious notation:
I need a high capacity semi-auto rifle/carbine because the bad guys have them.
Once you have found a way to make sure that every single bad guy has been disarmed, and prove it to me, you can have mine.
Who knows? Maybe we'll meet again in another world, because it ain't happenin' in this one.

Yes, everyone who wants to acquire and possess an assault weapon can be drafted first for any common offense or the general warfare.

No American soldier would want to go to war with one of our civilian "assault weapons" as it is inferior to a real military assault weapon.
Would you want fight against a guy that has a machine gun and you only have a semi auto rifle?
