Dr. Fauci and other experts had claimed it take at least 1 1/2 years to test and approve a vaccine as both effective and safe. The Trump administration claims this has been done in under 1/3 the time. 100 million units have already been ordered to start using in October, with another 500 million more possibly ordered.

I'd prefer the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine over the Pfizer vaccine, but Mama said take what you can get as fast as you can get it.

I'd take either today and sign a legal waiver.

They're rolling waaaay too slow, we need it NOW.

 

I guess anyone who claims to be terrified of this virus had better take it, or we won't want to hear another word out of them.

 

I wonder if Trump will get credit for doing what all the experts claimed couldn't be done. I remember their ranting about President Trump "fast tracking" a vaccination as dangerous and impossible. It almost as if those "experts" want the pandemic to continue.

 

Well, one must be cautious of snake oil salesmen.

 

I can take a higher risk on a treatment or a vaccine because I'm mid-seventies. I have to take less risk on the virus so we're still pretty much locked down. I am going to get the virus sooner, or later, and my risk of death is high, so it makes sense to transfer that risk over to a vaccine.

If I were 45 I wouldn't worry at all.

 

Well, I sure as hell won't be "the first kid on my block" to rush right out and get the vaccine!

They're going to throw this thing together VERY quickly, and frankly, the record of all those 'flu vaccines' the medical community comes up year after year after year is so poor that I don't see how anybody can feel much confidence about a new vaccine that was cooked up at 'warp-speed'....

If -- and only IF -- the record shows that a new vaccine is VERY effective, and produces VERY few (if any) side-effects, in VERY few people, then, maybe, after a few months have passed, I might get vaccinated.

But, I'm an old guy -- I still have very BAD memories from the 'swine-flu' vaccine a bunch of idiots threw together and shot us all up with in 1976. It killed a lot of people, and really screwed up a lot more -- permanently. I was one of the lucky ones -- it only took all the feeling out of my right thumb for about six months. So, yeah... I'll 'wait-and-see'....

If they have a vaccine now, that means they had the vaccine before the pandemic. I won’t be taking any covid vaccines. I’ll let my immune system do what it was designed to do.

Nonsensical It will not be Trump's vaccine any more than it would have been a Clinton vaccine had she won back in 2016. It will be a vaccine developed by medical experts and accepted by the FDA. Trump is incidentally the idiot that happens to be in the Oval Office at the time this is all happening. Whatever vaccine we get, we will be lucky it could happen despite that moron's presence in a position of high authority.

I'll take whatever the hell vaccine gets approved. Should there be more than one, whatever one is best for me by the numbers is the one I'll happily pay for.

Yeah, George Orwell almost got it totally right, except instead of entitling his masterpiece, "1984", he should have named it "2009"....

The truly ironic thing about that is that in 1984, the United States was well on its way to becoming an economic powerhouse again, and with inflation knocked down to the lowest levels in many, many years. The 'dynamic duo' of Ronald Reagan and Fed. Chairman, Paul Volcker, engaged the engine of "Reaganomics" and literally withing a couple of years, nearly all the governmental stupidity, weakness, and malfeasance of the 1970's was wiped away!

Contrast those wonderful 'Reagan years' with the 'socialism-lite' debacle of the Obama regime and it makes you want to cry....

 

In spirit, I agree with you -- BUT -- when we make our decisions about whether to let the government jab us with some new 'wonder drug', we must weigh the fact (which nearly everyone wants to put out of their minds) that COVID-19 is, indeed, a "NOVEL" (NEW!) virus. And that, to add to the difficulty in understanding it, it was engineered in a Chinese BIO-WEAPONS factory!

Thus, at our present 'warp-speed' we may not develop an accurate, comprehensive, full understanding of exactly what the hell this virus is, how it mutates, and what its full set of 'behaviors' may be, going forward.

That's why I voted that I may get the vaccine, but then again, I may not.... I remember the 'Swine Flu' vaccine debacle of 1976 all too clearly!

 

Gosh, so you won't take the vaccine, because you hate the Trump? So, you'd put folks in danger from yourself because of your hate? Really?

 

I'll pass.

While my immune system is about as compromised as it can get, I also know what I need to do to maintain certain levels.

I'm not about to accept an injection that could likely upset that balance, and actually cause more harm than good.
