Instead of being a smart elec, why not be a man and prove your point? I clearly showed you how you were wrong, and that just because the SCOTUS doesn't take a case, doesn't mean no harm is done. During the early years of America, the supreme court similarly refused to take civil rights cases. I suppose in your view, no harm was done. Nothing would humble me quicker than an intelligent explanation or rebuttal.. Do you have one?
I have, and continue to do so. Where conservatives run off the reservation, their ideology doesn't get a pass from me.
Perhaps the one sidedness of the comment. The context didn't allow for the possibility that you were also interested in having the complete conversation.
I agree 100%. Sadly some people argue against helping people suffering Severe Depression. This is very close to Nazi arguments. All people must survive. Sadly people will not live forever until Messianic Age.
Then I don't think you were following the conversation. What you quoted from me was a response to a one-sided comment that claimed the right didn't do anything like this and that the left did. My response was a correction to someone who clearly wasn't interested in having the complete conversation and was denying such activity on the right. Did I disagree with him that it happened on the left? So, to recap: 1) This guy claimed there was no such activity on the right, only the left, and you felt no need to call this "one-sided." 2) I never denied that it happened on the left, I've criticized both sides, and I pointed out that his one-sided claim was incorrect. Yet you thought this was one-sided?
Social Darwinism is an evil ideology. It is a democidal ideology. All Humans have innate value -- even those who can not contribute to Society and require help from Society.
I do not belong to Left or Right -- indeed both sides have faults. Sadly many Conservatives have abandoned Old Testament and put their faith in Social Darwinism.
The idea that people who need help should not be helped is evil. The idea that suicidal people should not be kept away from guns is evil. Human Lives have paramount value.
The VAST majority of those were suicides or gang violence. That number does not represent law abiding gun owners so it is somewhat deceptive. Do I care that people commit suicide? No. Their life, their choice. Do I care that gang bangers die in gang on gang violence? No. Better themselves than me. Now, let's look at the other side...... 400 MILLION have died under authoritarian rule because they were unarmed. Why would you care about 570,000 but not hundreds of millions ? 400 million who would have lived if they had had a gun > 572,000 who chose to die because they had a gun Furthermore..... in the SAME TIME PERIOD you listed....probably more than that thwarted harm BECAUSE they were armed such as at home. The anti-gun group NEVER likes to admit the good that firearms do.
See, that right there is a maxim that you can use in so many ways that actually creates evil. If I said, it's evil if you don't devote yourself to being a slave to someone else, likely you'd not enjoy your maxim anymore. And when you use BS like that as social policy, the idea that you would entirely squash all personal liberty? Now that's some real evil right there. Feelz is never a good idea when discussing society or civilization. And just for the record, the idea that somehow only you get to decide what "people who need" is, well, that's what I call evil.
